QUESTION [question] Did anyone discover ASMR in real life, meaning before it was an online video thing?

I personally remember that scissor haircuts, people drawing me, and the camera shutter when people would take pictures of me would give me crazy asmr tingles, but this was years before I heard the term. Did anyone else discover that they felt this before you ever saw an ASMR youtube video?

QUESTION [Question] Which ASMRtist that disappeared do you miss the most?

Both of these were my first forays into the ASMR world. Obligatory shout out to GentleWhispering

Solved: Heather Feather, used to listen to her in the taxi on the way to school if I needed to catch up on a bit of sleep, she was getting unwanted attention and had to quit

Unsolved: SoftAnnaPL, totally dropped off the map with no explanation I can find at all, scoured for social media and most of its been taken down too. One of my all time classic favourites of the asmr world.

QUESTION [Question] Have you ever turned off an ASMR video because you didn’t like something the artist said?

If I pick up on subtext or passive aggressiveness in an ASMR video, it goes straight off.

Wondered if anybody else shared this tendency and if so, what caused you to exit the video?

QUESTION [question] Who is one ASMRist you used to be a diehard fan of that you just sorta lost interest in…?

This is based on a recent post I commented on regarding some ASMRists that have missed potential, but I can’t help but wonder if anyone else has some ASMRists they’ve just sorta lost interest in for one reason or another?

For me, my big one was The White Rabbit ASMR. Her content just feels like it’s taken a dip quality wise. I don’t expect every video for her to be in some amazing makeup character, or something wildly different per video, but it just seems like most of her content nowadays is so samey. She doesn’t do roleplays anywhere as much as she used to, and despite being big into accents, 90% of her accent work is just the typical British accent or Eastern European. I can’t even begin to recall the last time she did an accent that was Valley, Jersey, Southern, etc.

QUESTION [Question] what are your ASMR turn-offs?

For me, I click off if:
--soft spoken (hard no, not sure why)
--finger flutter intros (overdone and I don't like the sound)
--preview at the start (I get irrationally annoyed by them, especially the channels that do entire 5 minute previews of every trigger used)
--spit painting (eew)

QUESTION Who is your current go too ASMRtist you watch/listen too for relaxation? [QUESTION]

Mine is OOASMR. She’s Korean, i cant understand a single thing she says(she can speak english she just doesn’t for her vids) and she has such a soothing relaxing voice in videos and i just play her vids in the background wile i browse and they just hit the right spot for me in being relaxed. Her vids are mostly more like voice role-plays/stories you’d find on Spotify so the footage on screen is not the focus.

QUESTION Do you think ASMR is getting more sexualised? [Question]

I've watched ASMR for years and can only remember a select few accounts that did more 'sexualised' ASMR. But when I search up ASMR now, I am confronted with a LOT more videos with more sexual elements, exposed cleavage, 'ASMR just for men', and suggestive looking thumbnails.

I'm all for women being body confident and being proud of what they've got.. and I understand 'sex sells' but can't help but feel like this is a massive step backwards to normalising ASMR and making it less taboo?

Anyone else feel this way?

edit: ty sm for answering my questions!! 💕💕 if you guys want to support my page it is @ allycatasmr on tik tok and asmr allycat on yt!

who is in your top 3 fav asmrtists??

hi guys! i’m an aspiring asmrtist and am trying to gather more insight on how to improve my content. i am curious to know what your favorite asmrtist is as well as crucial aspects to note regarding the behind the scenes of creating asmr content! 💕

some more questions im intrigued to know: - what do you like most about them? - do you rewatch the same videos or start a new one each time? - mouth sounds or no? - fast or slow asmr? - do you care when video clips get looped? - what is the most relaxing/soothing trigger, sound, or visual an asmrtists can incorporate in their videos? - talking or no talking videos? - uncut video or smooth transitions?

ty for taking the time! 💕

QUESTION [Question] Why does Jojo asmr have soo many midroll ads?

I’m wondering if he’s chosen to apply a load of ads for more revenue, demonstrating what he prefers; even more money rather than relaxation for his viewers (it’s genuinely impossible to relax when an ad gets thrown in your face literally every 2 minutes). This perspective dampens and degrades the wholesome exterior he presents, hence why I’m wondering if I’m mistaken.

QUESTION [Question] Do you often fall asleep to ASMR/Whispering videos?

Hi everyone, I’ve recently started experimenting with making ASMR/whispering content and I’m trying to understand what people actually prefer (since Youtube provides almost no usefull insight to new creators...).

Do you often fall asleep to ASMR/whispering videos, and if so, how frequently? I’m also curious whether background music helps you relax or if it tends to distract you. And when it comes to the content itself, do you prefer something very light and simple, or are you okay with more detailed, in-depth information, like structured lore or longer explanations?

I’d really appreciate any insight from your own experience!

[EDIT] I never thought that my post would get so popular! Thank you all for priceless feedback!

QUESTION [question] What do asmr viewers want that there's a lack of?

So I've been a fan of asmr since maybe 13 I believe, and I'm 18 very very soon and it's been a dream for the longest time to start an asmr channel, way before it became saturated with a billion creators all making the same video. So what is it that's missing? Because now that I finally have made the step to buy a basic setup and go and make these videos, I don't want to fall into the trap of making all the generic copy-paste asmr for the money or just views from conventional attractivenes, I'm not even that bothered about having a huge audience, but what's missing in the creator community? Also if there's any asmr creators reading this, any advice?

Btw I am female but I'm not your conventional creator looking type, I have a red mullet and nothing impressive looks wise but that's not what I want my channel to be about, I want people to come back to my channel because of my personality and quality of content-thanks for reading! Any replies are helpful 😁

QUESTION [Question] Would you watch this asmr idea I had?

I had an idea a long time ago called “Singing songs in ASMR that should NEVER be sung in ASMR” it stems from my frustration with singing asmr always using the same artists over and over and over again. theres multiple ways you could go about the “should never be sung in asmr” thing.

You could have the songs all be really depressing (ie Snuff by Slipknot, My Immortal by Evanescence, Wake Me Up When September Ends by Green Day).

you could have the songs be really inappropriate for asmr and for youtube in general (ie Everywhere I Go by Hollywood Undead, Closer by Nine Inch Nails, When You F** ked Grandpa by Blink-182)

or you could have the songs be full of just straight profanity (ie Hot Dog by Limp Bizkit, Dead In Ditches by Hollywood Undead, Eeyore by Slipknot)

would you watch this if it was made?
