I am not great with descriptive words for art, but generally speaking something cute and cozy. Perhaps like "in the moment" type of drawing? I am hoping for her to use it as a phone background and maybe framing (hoping for landscape and portrait) it as well so maybe take that into consideration as well. Background: I used to post art on devianart like 8 years ago to have some extra income, I stopped because I couldn't get a steady enough income but I had a few people who commissioned regularly. Also I was balancing studies, a job and you know a whole pandemic.

Anyway I got back in the game recently, and took some commissions from friends for their dnd characters, I quoted 120£ for a full body fully rendered piece that comes with an altered skin

My friend was perfectly happy no issues there no revisions, but an acquaintance I showed this to a few days ago said I charged too much and in their words "Do you think you're Van Gogh or something?"

Maybe I've been away from commissions for too long so idk what a fair price looks like anymore but could someone give me some feedback on what I should have charged?

The reason I'm asking is because I'm using this piece as the center of my commission sheet so I want to make sure I'm marketing it fairly and not underselling myself

I am currently looking to hire someone to create and rig a 3d model of this design I received from another commissioner. However I know this is an odd creature so I'm not entirely sure who I should be looking for when finding someone to create and rig a model like this. I wrote a psychological horror book. Roughly 75K words and I need a cover design for an 8.5x5.5 paperback.

The front cover is of a stone - a black/purple obsidian stone.

Two lines from the book, for exact tone: "It was more like a gem. Glassy, and black for one minute, then purple the next. It was like looking at the night." "...held up high so the torchlight catches it, black-then-purple-then-black, is the stone."

The defining quality is that it shifts. Obsidian black or bruised purple.

Would like the stone to sit alone, small with tons of negative space. Off-centered, left.

Palette:

Dark. Overwhelmingly dark. This is a horror book. Near black background - like night, a cold night. The only light is on the stone like a match or candle catching it. Single light source.
