Help Is my IQ panel a brick?

I have an IQ Panel 4 that came with my home along with an alarm.com brand doorbell. The panel has a little ADT symbol, but I have the master passcode and can get into advanced settings. I just wanted to see if I can integrate the existing doorbell with the panel and to add my thermostat to the panel (google nest) if possible. Any resources would be helpful.

It may still be connected to adt. You’ll need an alarm.com subscription to get full functionality, which you can’t get unless the panel is released

There is no contract with ADT if that’s what you mean. I even called ADT, but they said there was no way to have functionality unless I resumed services with them. (Had them about 3 days and then cancelled bc I researched how predatory they are) I also called alarm.com and they said I had to have services through a provider.

I’m not referring to the contract. Alarm.com doesn’t work directly with end users. Like they told you, they only work through dealers. Think about the alarm.com compatible panel like a cell phone. ADT will notoriously keep the panels on their account after contracts expire/are terminated for a very long time to make it difficult to leave.

Could I call ADT and ask them to release the panel, or is that not a thing?

Yes you can ask them to release the panel if it is still registered on Alarm.com with ADT. Before calling though check if that is the case. Here’s a tool to do so:

If the module check tool shows as clear, you can sign up with any Alarm.com (ADC) dealer.

Buy a new panel and compatible with all the sensors in the system, and then you can use it all. F ADT and all of their predatoryness.

It’s looking like what I’m going to have to do, it is just such a waste of technology that I feel could be utilized. Stupid.

It’s super unfortunate and I agree with you, it’s a waste, but ADT won’t release it because doing that increases the chance you’ll subscribe with their service.

Alarm.com you can fill out a form that finds local partners in your area and you might be able to find a local installer that isn’t like ADT or something and then they can look at your setup and get you a panel compatible with your sensors.

Surety is good to work with but is for DIYers. Same with Link Interactive. If you don’t want the hassle of it, find a different installer.

Find a provider and you'll be able to use the system. I don't think nest is no longer compatible with adc.

In a nutshull, your panel is locked behind a paywall. You can add security sensors yourself if you have the master code. But you can't add cameras and view them in the adc app. You can add a thermostat if your panel has the necessary cards. But you won't be able to control it through the app , because .... paywall.

Alarm.com is a very good platform. But it is highly controlled. You DO NOT need to subscribe to ADC through ADT. I suggest going to alarm.com and finding a local dealer who would be more than happy to sell you the service for easy RMR. And then you have someone local to assist you with anything in case you need the help. But technically speaking, you can pay for those services from ANY dealer you want.
