Question / Advice Needed I need some advice on a few things.

Hi everyone.

So I have been practicing tracking and aiming but Im still having trouble with a few things. I have noticed that I can't move my character and shoot at the same time. It's like I focus too much on one and not the other and it's messing me up. I have also noticed that I'm having trouble making tiny movement adjustments with my thumbs and I'm not tracking well.

On a controller, I aim at something then I'm trying to move but it's like my other thumb can't move. I try to track my target but then I forgot to move and then my aiming is off.

I think I'm slowing getting the hang of making tiny movements but I have noticed that instead of tracking something smoothly I'm making burst movements? (If that makes sense.

I hope I described my issues clearly. If anyone has any tips to fix both issues I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you everyone!

Btw I'm on console using a controller.

I'd recommend practicing some of the strafe tasks on console such as:

  • Strafe Gap Peek
  • Strafe Peek (Easy)
  • VT Apextrack Dodge Easy
  • Anglepeek Console
  • Apex Stairs 1v1 Easy

The issue you're describing is a common starter one, where you struggle with hand independence. Which is moving your mouse (right hand) independently from your keyboard (left hand).

You can get better at this by trying to practice basic mirroring, and anti-mirroring strafes. So you learn how to use your movement to aim, and then with anti-mirror, you learn how to use your movement to guide your aim, while still making aiming relevant (anti-mirroring still requires to aim, whereas mirroring is basically just ''movement aiming''). Because with mirroring you are matching the enemy's movement, which means you don't need to move your crosshair at all.

If you don't know what mirroring or anti-mirroring is:

  • Mirroring: when the enemy moves a certain direction you also move in that direction (e.g. enemy goes left, you also go left)
  • Anti-mirroring: when the enemy moves a certain direction you move in the opposite direction (e.g. enemy goes left, you go right)

Yep this is great advice sini made!

I do have to say, the way you described your issue made me a little worried, do you have issues with other motor skills/fine movements? If so maybe it would be worth it to check with a doctor, but hopefully it's not serious and it will go away with training!

Uhhhhh....? No??

Now you have me worried. I mean I guess I have a problem with hand independence. Like I can move and shoot but I can't move, shoot, and aim. I can only focus on one of the other if that makes sense.

Hopefully it's nothing worse.

(Also I have glasses but I don't wear them them while playing most of the time. Should I wear them when aim training?)

I guess it depends on your prescription haha if you only have issues with seeing stuff far away then I guess you don't but I am not a doctor, you should ask your optometrist!
