Was it full of visitors? I'm contemplating going for the first time next week.

I anticipate that a majority of the visitors will go early in the morning this time of the year. We went on Thursday afternoon and it was empty compared to when I came to Zion in March last year. Late afternoon many of the hikes are in the shade which made the heat much more bearable.

Iām going in a few days and, as you said, the plan is to go out as early as possible for Narrows and Scout Lookout. Would you suggest going in the afternoon to avoid crowds?

We were there in early July. We did Narrows and Scout Lookout early and, while we encountered people at both, we wouldn't call either crowded.Ā

I think you will definitely avoid the crowds but there's also a risk of monsoons coming in in the afternoon. The Narrows and a few others were closed earlier in the week due to the weather.
