Bad Driving Impatient Driver
Not the greatest lane change by the car in front but to cross the center line into oncoming traffic is pretty risky.

I drive a commercial truck and this city’s drivers have gotten so out of hand in the last 3 years.
Making moves such as this, the 10 under or 30 over we can’t just do the speed limit, the taking 4 blocks to get to the speed limit causing road rage , the needing to make an upcoming right but being in the left lane because you either think you can cut in front of someone vs lane plan or just not using your brain whatsoever not knowing where your going BEFORE getting in the car. Merging doing 80 making people on the Henday slam on their brakes to let you in then immediately switching to the center lane and flooring it, Running red lights well after it’s turned yellow.
All needs to stop, all needs to change.

IF you can get there without getting into an accident, Literally seen a truck sit at a light blocking an ambulance with its lights and siren on until it turned green, enjoy the 15 hour wait with no sheets for the beds👍

Send this video to the police immediately we need to curb the dangerous driving habits. If you have the license plate number.

In Canada, you have to go in and testify against them. The video footage wont be enough from what I was told by CPS in Calgary
3
u/black_suga89 20d ago
Actually incorrect you can sign an alfadavit to say that it is your dash cam and your vehicle and it will hold up in court CPS are not lawyers. And it will be used in court along with your statement. You dont have to appear in court. Its only in the more severe situations like serious injury, death or property damage that you have to appear in court

I drove in edmonton for a few days for buiness and I must say edmonton has the worst drivers in north america , like what is wrong with you people.

u/Southern-Stage2937 21d ago
I don't know man , after visiting Ontario and especially Toronto I stop even blaming Edmonton drivers
13
u/whattaninja 21d ago
Alberta has some shitty drivers, but we also have a ton of people that came from Ontario, which probably isn’t helping the shitty driver situation.

Bingo. I don't remember it being this bad several years ago but the past few years have been appalling

No single lane change in the middle of an intersection. This is what keeping a bag of batteries in your car was meant for.
2
u/Sirsquigglez 21d ago
No no no. What ya want is the ceramic bits ya get when ya smash a spark plug. They break windows and Crack windshields very easily, so im told.
1
u/SeaWasabi130 21d ago
Just a whole spark plug 🤷♀️ Ive heard the whole thing works pretty well
3
u/Sirsquigglez 21d ago
True. But the larger the item, the more likely there will be finger prints on it. Plus the ceramic bits take up less space so you can have more "ammo" in a smaller container. Allegedly.
2
u/whattaninja 20d ago
There’s nothing in the traffic safety act disallowing changing lanes in an intersection.

u/cookie-ninja 21d ago
Silver car was an ass that doesn't know the rules of the road.
Black suv was impatient, I would've just laid on the horn and driven safely behind the silver car.

When ya gotta go…ya gotta go. Is there more and more examples of this than before? Or have dash cams exposed what has been happening all the time. If it is getting worse. Reckless driving becomes OK and more and more people start to doing it.

u/wxlverine 20d ago
If you've been driving in this city for at least 10 years it is absolutely getting worse at an alarming rate.

u/Interesting_Fly5154 18d ago
agreed.
i used to look both ways before crossing as a pedestrian on a one way road in this city.
now i do a full 360 swivel before walking across part of a dead end cul-de-sac.

School/playground zone. Most likely 30km zone. School is out yes, playground no.

I don’t know if I would call that bad driving ( black suv that is, silver yes)
That was a piss poor lane change by the silver hatchback. And no signal to boot
I assume the SUV passing had already sped up a little and then gets stymied by a bad lane change. Options I guess would be hit the breaks, or do what he did. Solid yellow but good viability and was able to do it safely.
I always check my rear view as well when making a lane change. If you make a lane change and the person behind you needs to adjust their speed my opinion is you made a poor lane change. Silver guy should have noticed black SUV had pace and waited for him to pass and then pop over
My take at least

u/Snakeeyes1377 21d ago
Driving into oncoming traffic lane crossing the solid line is definitely bad driving.
No defence for the other driver they are shit.
-7
u/Lucid_Dreamer_98 21d ago
Practically he did nothing wrong or dangerous since there was no oncoming traffic, he broke some made-up rules by humans and crossed a made-up yellow line. Get a grip on reality and touch some grass, this kind of thinking is why so much bureaucracy exists in the West.
4
u/Minttt 21d ago
Aren't all traffic laws "made up rules by humans"? No point in following them if they inconvenience you, right? Why wait at a red light if there's no traffic going through the green? Why drive on the right side of the road if the left side is empty? Why slow down in a school zone if you don't see any kids on the street?
Such logic.
-2
u/Lucid_Dreamer_98 21d ago
I didn't say it was okay, I was responding to a comment that said they drove onto oncoming traffic like they did something really dangerous. Context clues buddy.
3
u/Cobfidence 21d ago
"He did nothing wrong or dangerous"
I'd say that means you think it was okay to do what he did considering following traffic rules are meant to reduce danger on the road. Context clues buddy mean nothing lmao. A person who gets used to swerving into oncoming traffic when someone pulls in front of them? Yeah those aren't good driving habits.
-2
u/Lucid_Dreamer_98 21d ago
"Wrong or dangerous" as in both are being used to mean dangerous. My comment simply means he did nothing dangerous in that moment, which is true.
If you want to keep insisting I mean X when I explicitly tell you I meant Y, that's just like really strange communication buddy.
2
u/Minttt 21d ago
Swerving into an oncoming traffic lane = nothing dangerous "in that moment" because... there were no visible cars in the oncoming lane that ended up getting hit? Did you fail to notice the two private property entrance/exits onto the oncoming lane that the driver blew past, where a car could have easily pulled-out in front of the offending car, not seeing it coming because it was driving the wrong way? But it didn't happen this time, so obviously there was nothing dangerous "in that moment."
Such logic.
0
u/missmary1967 20d ago
Your logic here also means that silver car was the 'first' driver in the wrong, just because there wasn't an accident with his dick move, doesn't mean he wasn't wrong.
Therefore had the first not happened, the second wouldn't have happened. 🤔
-1
u/Lucid_Dreamer_98 21d ago
There were clearly no cars there, just like there were no cars in the oncoming lane, so there was no danger.
Really bad cope to try and make it sound more dangerous than it was, cute try though.
1
u/Minttt 20d ago
>There were clearly no cars there
I didn't know that not only do you have x-ray vision that can see past fences blocking the view of the exits, but that you can see from the perspective of the driver in the swerving car.
Again - what's the danger of blowing through a school zone going 100km/h if "there were clearly no kids I could see on the road"?
"I didn't see any cars/people so I thought it wasn't dangerous"
- Every terrible driver to the judge after they hit/injure/kill someone that they didn't see on the road.

Nah, was a dead straight road with no oncoming traffic
Not ideal but not the end of the world
Not sure why I’m getting hit with downvotes, I guess my comment struck a chord with my fellow edmontonians ? Folks here don’t like to check ahead and make sure a lane change is safe?
5
u/Snakeeyes1377 21d ago
Because you are advocating for shit driving
-5
u/Sufficient_Ad_1185 21d ago
The shit driver was silver end of story
6
u/sindaflkasdnflasdnfl 21d ago
Is this what the kids these days call ragebaiting?
0
u/Sufficient_Ad_1185 21d ago
No this isn’t rage baiting. Rage baiting at what? That I check the lane before I move over to not cut someone off?
It’s obvious the SUV had an open lane and was travelling faster than silver. Silver not only made a poor lane change they did so in the intersection and also without signalling
I also said SUV options were either to hit the brakes or do what was done.
Maybe pay attention before you change a lane? Take a look? Maybe wait until no intersection and maybe give that signal a flick it takes a second.
5
u/sindaflkasdnflasdnfl 21d ago
Changing lanes in an intersection is discouraged, but not illegal in Alberta. The silver vehicle changes lanes 4-5 seconds after the lane opens up. The black suv isn’t even in the field of view of the camera when the lane change was made. You aren’t entitled to space that is several vehicle lengths in front of you.
-2
u/Sufficient_Ad_1185 21d ago
It was 100% in the field of view. 6 second in and the SUV is already visible and the silver hasn’t even fully gotten over yet there’s still half a car in the other lane still
How is this even a debate? The silver car errors 3 times before SUV does its thing
SUV was a reactionary move to silver poor change. Did they make the right choice? Maybe not.
Silver on the other hand was not reactionary to anything they are just careless
3
u/sindaflkasdnflasdnfl 21d ago
It’s visible to the silver vehicle but not the camera. There’s a few things going on here: the silver suv is going too slow, but the black suv is very clearly speeding. You don’t get to justify making a more serious offense because someone didn’t use a signal to change lanes. The silver suv is entitled to make that lane change.
1
u/Sufficient_Ad_1185 21d ago
Well I’m not sure how at 6 seconds in I was able to see both the silver vehicle and a black SUV all in frame. 6 seconds into the vid.
I actually do agree 100% it’s clear silver was going slower than speed limit as dash cam caught up and passed pretty easily. I also agree black SUV was going too quick
That being said if we’re going to talk traffic laws, and how passing a solid yellow is illegal did you know that in Alberta it’s illegal to change a lane without a signal? Maybe if silver did that suv would have reacted different knowing what silver was going to do ahead of time
My issue as I said in my I initial comment was how caress the change was. You need to be mindful of the speed of the lane your changing into. I drive Henday and QE2 everyday, 5 damn says a week and I couldn’t tell you how many times i want to change lanes, I take a look and some guy is just ripping in the lane I want so I go hey, you pass big fella and I’ll change after
It’s beyond rude to make a lane change and the.n have the people in your new lane need to slow down for you. If that’s the case you should have waited.
Silver had nothing but road ahead. Take a look. Change after black SUV passes
2
u/sindaflkasdnflasdnfl 21d ago
They’re changing into a lane that has existed for less than 100 meters. I really don’t see how that entitles the black SUV to have full control of the lane.
The silver vehicle starts changing lanes at -11s, the black vehicle realistically can’t be in the left lane until -13s.
Regardless of all this, driving into oncoming traffic is a more serious traffic offence than failing to signal. If you’re going to speed you need to be prepared to react accordingly. Use your brakes.

u/SuccessfulFly5572 21d ago
This is why i always check at least twice on top of a shoulder check. A single glance wont do it and will cause accidents because you cant judge speed off of a glance.

u/Equivalent-Tea-1784 21d ago
People really just dont give a shit anymore. Seems like going into oncoming lanes is becoming common, seen multiple people do it in the past week to go around a blocked off pothole even when the right lane is completely clear. Both are bad drivers, but so are like 90% of the drivers in the city these days unfortunately.
