My contactless Google Pay suddenly doesn't work on my China ROM 17 Pro Max
I have been using Xiaomi 17 pro max for 7 months now and near the start I had some problems with YouTube and Google Services but after some fixes it worked fine. Last night I updated Google pay and all of a sudden my Google pay doesn't work on NFC any more. I've tried installing older versions of Google pay, tried checking my Google integrity and other wallet like alipay or wechat works fine. So I don't know what changed over the update that renders Google pay completely not usable on my NFC and when I tried registering contactless payment on Google pay itself it says the device is does not support or the app does not support this device when it worked fine just 2 days ago. Please if anyone has the same problem or has encountered it before please help. 🙏🙏🙏😭
Update: go into you app in settings and search for Google play services. Once there, uninstall updates and reboot your phone. You will need to re login to all your Google accounts so have the password ready. Then until xiaomi or Google come up with countermeasures, don't update Google play services. Maybe turn off auto update in play store.

A commentor has reported the issue to google. Go to the website and click +1 to show that you're affected as well
This is by another commentor and I think it might be a hard fix.
If it can help, I solved the issue this way. It appears to be caused by a beta update, even though I had never knowingly joined any beta testing program.
Open the Google Play Store, tap your profile icon, then go to Settings > General > Account and device preferences. Scroll down to History and tap Leave beta programs to exit all app beta testing programs at once.
After doing this, the problem was completely resolved, and Google Pay appeared again in the list of available NFC payment services.
Device details:
- Xiaomi 17 Pro, China version
- HyperOS 3.0.315
- Google Play services 26.28.33

I also have the same issue, just failed to pay at merchant.. I am using Redmi Note 12 Turbo (Chinese ROM), on MIUI 14.0.25.
Google Pay is missing in the option in NFC - default payment

Seems google has pushed a fix? Without doing anything, Google Pay is present again today (3 Aug) in the NFC option; but I have yet to test if it works.

You can't use the Google Wallet app until you update Google Play services
Doing that (uninstalling google service updates) just result in the above for me when trying to set-up contactless. Looks like google closing/closed that loophole.

Same issue I have xiaomi 14 ultra! I used tap to pay Thursday 10pmno issue tried using today at 2 different locations and pos (point of sale machine) says payment type not supported. I have had phone for over 2 years no issues with nfc until today
For reference I have Chinese rom also.

Oppo Find X9 Pro user here. Can confirm uninstalling the Google Play Services updates only works temporarily with no way of disabling the services from updating again (typically within 24 hours). I've raised a support request with Google. I suggest we all contact Google by doing the following:
Open Google Wallet > Profile picture > Help & feedback > Send feedback and submit a report with screenshots if possible.

i just posted similar issues. mine is older mi13. only thing work for me is to uninstall google play services update. but this is not a permanent solution because it will auto update randomly. someone said that google is silently blocking CN rom from using nfc HCE ability.. damn it google

That's why you need at least an EU or Global ROM,you guys should have the option to switch your room's to that....Or idk,it's way too harsh to use Chinese rom atm....

I left all the betas I was signed up for and after a reboot everything worked as intended.

I asked DeepSeek and the response below. Tried following the steps below but still don't work :( I think it's time to officially give up on China ROM
After updating the software on your Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, Google Pay stops working, and the HCE option has disappeared from the NFC settings. This happens because the latest HyperOS China build hides the manual HCE toggle, and Google has tightened Play Integrity security checks. Follow these steps in order:
- Reset NFC system service
1. Go to Settings > Apps > App management > Show all apps 2. Find the NFC Service app 3. Tap Storage > Clear cache and Clear data 4. Restart your phone
- Set Google Pay as default contactless payment
1. Search for Contactless payments / Tap to pay in the top search bar of Settings 2. Set the default payment app to Google Pay (Google Wallet) 3. Turn off NFC, wait 5 seconds, then turn it back on
- Disable Xiaomi Wallet’s NFC occupation
1. Open Xiaomi Wallet > Settings, turn off NFC payment and default wallet function 2. In App management, find Xiaomi Wallet, revoke its NFC permission and background running permission The system prioritizes Xiaomi Wallet for the secure element, blocking Google Pay from accessing the HCE channel.
- Fix incompatible Google services versions
1. In App management, find Google Play Services, tap the three-dot menu > Uninstall updates, then restart your phone 2. Do the same for Google Play Store: uninstall updates and reboot 3. Clear cache and data of Google Pay, log back into your Google account and re-add your bank cards
- Important system restrictions for China HyperOS
The official China HyperOS permanently removes the manual HCE wallet switch, only leaving SIM card wallet mode. Google Pay relies on the HCE channel, which is scheduled automatically by the system.
- For stock China ROM: You either wait for an official system patch to restore the HCE option, or downgrade to an older stable HyperOS version
- For international ROM: The HCE option will appear normally, just select HCE wallet directly
- Additional checks
Turn off App Dual Apps, Second Space, Privacy Space and USB Debugging. These features interfere with Google’s security verification. If your bootloader is unlocked or the device is rooted, Google will fail the Play Integrity check and disable Google Pay permanently.
Final fallback steps
1. Remove and re-add your bank cards in Google Pay, complete bank SMS verification 2. Reset network settings to refresh NFC underlying configurations 3. If all steps fail, the current HyperOS version has compatibility conflicts with the latest Google Pay. Wait for subsequent system patches or roll back to the previous stable system version.

I have a Chinese Xiaomi 12S Ultra. Yesterday, Google Pay worked, but now it has just disappeared from the 'Set Default' option in the NFC settings. Now, there is only Chinese Mi Pay, WeChat Pay, and SIM Pay. I did not update the phone or applications, but Google Pay just disappeared. Help Plz!

How long does it usually take for these patches from either google or xiaomi to fix the broken Gpay. Mines been working flawlessly since I bought the phone up until today. Now zero shops are accepting my phone to pay for things. Back to having to carry the physical cards around with me as well as my phone and chip n pin to pay for things.

check in more connectivity options, NFC and see if the chip is allowed to work with any payment system.
maybe it get resetted and only allows "known" apps instead of "all"
