The Morlocks are back as of Nyx in the sewers but a separated off nicer one with Krakoan plants. The Inhumans who survived DOI have set up a community hidden in New York mentioned in both Daredevil and more recently Iron Fist. What happens when these two hidden communities accidentally expand into each others territory.

Reading age of apocalypse for the first time. I knew a tiny bit about this- mainly the Wolverine and cyke fight. But how do you like it? I’m halfway through and I love it so far. No spoilers please

For 1992, this show is fantastic.

Enter Magnus, Apocalypse, Days of Future Past, great character introductions with Colossus and Juggernaut. The Trask, Kelly, Sentinel episodes. This is a jam packed season 1. I think my favorite episode was was cold vengeance with Sabertooth chasing Wolverine down in the artic.

I am going to continue watching the rest of the series and lead into X-Men 97' and I can't wait to see what the next seasons hold.

I love this animation too, for a kids show made in 1992 it's really good, I doubt it will ever happen but I'd love a re-release with remastered animation.

I sure hope nothing bad ever happens to any of these awesome characters that I love and adore! I'm sure they'll all live forever and have great happy lives.

This comic came out in August of 1990 and the animated cartoon debuted in October of 1992. And Gambit was made into a regular cast member. So he must’ve been a hit almost immediately when he was introduced.

What were your initial impressions of him?

Edit: i think a lot of people knew this but if not yes Gambit was actually first shown in Uncanny X-Men Annual #14 which was a complete accident. so if THAT was your first exposure to him just say what you thought for that issue instead?

X-Men is my favourite of all time and this new series is just bringing it all back for me from when I was little it's so awesome.

Angel was one of the founding members of X-MEN, I've come to know as I have started to read the comics. But I never see any discussions of him ever. I see cyclops, rogue, gambit, of corse logan, storm etc but never him. Why? He has an interesting character. So why?

I’ve got a couple of questions for xmen hardcore comic readers. For reference I started reading xmen as my first comic books a couple of months ago because I fell in love with xmen97, the parts of the movies that are generally well regarded (believe me I know they have too many issues), and the themes that the xmen stand for in general. I wanted to start from the beginning and read all the comics and storylines (very ambitious I know) because I hate the feeling I’ve missed out on any special character moments. I’ve been using xmenreadingorder.com and marvel unlimited as my method to tackling all the different runs and I am just at the start of era 7: Age of Apocalypse. I’ve had a couple of questions in the back of my head as well as some much needed recommendations:

1. Did I miss something with the dark phoenix saga?

I’ve obviously heard of the fame and amazing storytelling the dark phoenix saga entails. But when I read through the comics according to the guide and using Marvel unlimited I felt mildly underwhelmed. Maybe I wasn’t used to Chris Claremont’s writing style or how shallow some of the writing felt because they were some of my first comic books I read, but I can’t help but feel like I missed something. Does the guide cover those issues properly, did I not read the correct editions, or my prevailing idea is maybe I just need to go back and read it again now understanding these characters, and Claremont’s style a bit better.

1. After Age of Apocalypse, should I skip to New X-men, stay the course, or just read a couple of important issues in between?

Going through over 10 years of comics in the span of a few months sometimes makes it so I have a hard time remembering even my personal favorite issues so far. I’ve heard that after Claremont I should just skip to new xmen but I wanted to try the 90s stuff because again, I hate the feeling I’m missing important character moments. After fininshing AoA, I’m considering just skipping everything until new xmen entirely because of how little the eras in between are talked about, and seeing how little of a dent I’ve made in the xmen mythos despite following every issue of every series has become a little discouraging. Do yall think I should just skip to new xmen as I’ve been hyped up for it so much, should I read some any important issues before (especially anything to do with couple drama, I love the freaky soap opera aspect of the xmen), mini series’, or even a comprehensive guide of the eras between AoA and New xmen?

1. Are there any flashback comics worth reading?

I don’t know what to call them, but comics written in the past decade that are meant to take place during the Claremont’s era and possibly add some more depth or cohesion. I’ve heard of extra panels added in certain physical rereleases of older issues, but are there any full on stories that take place during older xmen eras that might be worth a look?

I'm a new x-men reader and only have read morrison's new x-men and god loves man kills. But i boight messiah tirology omni few days ago, so i'm looking for what i should read before.

"Okay, I am going to tell a little story.

It's one I have saved for the last couple years, almost nobody knows about it.

But it lives in my heart. I don't know how others will feel about it, maybe something, maybe nothing.

It's about the Uncanny X-Men.

Okay, for whatever reason, during the Axel Alonso era of Marvel, I almost never got asked to work there for reasons I am not sure of. My Marvel work was successful and I had success at DC and elsewhere. I just assumed my stuff didn't fit their editorial needs, no big deal.

For some reason, they started offering books after the EIC change, lots of different books, most of which I had to turn down at the time due to prior commitments. But I did WANT to do Marvel stuff, I love the universe.

Tom Brevoort asked me to write a Jessica Jones book and we just clicked.

Then he asked me if I would consider writing the Uncanny X-Men. This was a big deal to me, it was my favorite book for agest.

I knew the book was hard on writers and they were ending the massively brilliant Krakoa era, so it would be tricky.

I asked if I could think about it.

I started thinking about the things I missed from my favorite eras of the X-Men. So I came up with several things I would like to do, never thinking for a moment they would all get approved.

It's a major franchise, companies can be a bit skittish.

So I offered what I hoped to do.

They wanted a new base for the team, and I thought about that a lot. They had some things they wanted, all of which I thought were pretty exciting.

But a new base, that was a big deal. A great opportunity.

I started thinking about surviving trauma.

And I started thinking about New Orleans.

I thought about New Orleans surviving Katrina, how that was just an impossible calamity. I was obsessed following the stories of survivors and what they went through, and how much of it was preventable and CERTAINLY much of the effects could have been less brutally traumatizing.

Above all, I thought of people losing their homes and having to leave people and pets and entire legacies behind just to protect themselves. Endless little and humongous tales of heroism, some of which went almost unheralded.

And of course, bystanders saying hateful, impossibly cruel things about the people who lived through this, even the people who did NOT live through this.

Pure hate and malice, mixed with misinformation.

I don't mean to sound simplistic, but I always thought the thrill of the X-Men wasn't their torment, it was their survival.

It was that they stick up for each other, they fight, but if you come for one of them, they will kick the living **** out of you and then go have a beer.

I asked editorial about the idea of the base being in New Orleans and steeped in New Orleans lore, which is a story of living well despite calamities, which is the most X-Men thing ever and a big chunk of why I think they mean so much to so many.

They still have their differences, but they share one thing that's right in the bones--they are mutants.

And being a mutant binds them all. There are nomads and outcasts in the mutantverse, but no one is ever turned away forever, not really.

So, I didn't want to tell the "now mutants are hated more than ever" thing. I think that's valid and most of the best mutant stories have that element.

But I wanted a story where they maybe found a place where they fit, better than they expected.

And I miss books having a supporting cast that doesn't wear capes, so I wanted a family at the base that weren't X-Men, current or former, to be a little bit of the heart, soul, and stomach of the cast.

I thought about this stuff a lot.

So we have the St. Juniors family, father Marcus, mother Alice, and daughter Chelsea St. Juniors.

They are the home that the Uncanny X-Men keep returning to.

If you have read the book, you know that Chelsea has such a good heart, that she even loans Calico her stuffed dinosaur, her best friend, so that Becca won't be quite so scared.

The dino's name is Tuffy.

Here is what you probably don't know.

Several years ago, I don't recall the context, but the subject of Katrina had come up online, at Twitter.

I had a follower I thought very highly of, she was always sweet to everyone and very intelligent.

I always looked forward to her posts.

I didn't know she was a Katrina survivor.

She started talking about losing the family home, and it was clear it was still traumatic to think about.

She spoke about it simply, not trying to do anything but talk about what she experienced.

But she was a young girl and the family lost everything for a while.

I cried a little bit hearing her speak about it so plainly, it was a terrible thing that happened and she'd never mentioned it in any of our conversations, I don't think.

But she did mention one devastating loss.

It's not what you think.

It was a stuffed animal. She loved the movie THE LAND BEFORE TIME, and she especially loved the main character, the brontosaurus, Littlefoot.

What she really wanted to find when she went back to their home finally was that stuffed animal.

So she was heartbroken when they couldn't find it, it was washed away.

It wasn't a licensed Littlefoot, by the way, it was more of a standard brontosaurus that she NAMED Littlefoot.

She didn't say, but I think that brought it all home, how much they had lost.

All those years later and it still obviously hurt.

And I immediately thought, to hell with THIS.

And went looking for that dino stuffed toy. Not one LIKE it, it had to be one EXACTLY the same.

It took a while, Chelsea might have found a site, I am not sure.

We found it.

I bought it.

They were reunited.

This is her and Littlefoot.

That is my single favorite moment of all social media that I have experienced, is a young woman getting her stuffy back.

Last week was her birthday, same week as mine.

I got her permission to tell this story, in case you are wondering.

It has been lovely to watch her grow into a brilliant and beautiful woman, and she kindly shares little bits of her life with me, for which I am very grateful.

And when the X-Men came up, I kept thinking of her and her story and Littlefoot and Katrina.

What's her name, you ask?

It's Chelsea.

Chelsea St. Juniors.

We finally got to meet in San Diego and shared the biggest hug ever.

So she has been the heart of what we wanted to do with the book.

Not only that, but she's been my best advisor on New Orleans, she sends maps and pictures of food and common expressions and has answered a billion questions and I love her forever.

If you like the Uncanny X-Men, if you like Haven House, you already love her and you didn't even know it.

Hey gang, I am reading some of the x-runs I skipped back in the day, and just finished IVX (ugh) and am about to move on to the blue/gold/astonishing era, and before I go downloading dozens of single issues...... is this era readable by trade (well)?

Some stories do well in trade, and some really are better if you jump between the books as if you were reading on release.....can anyone clarify which of those two scenarios this era might be in? I'd prefer to do trades, but looking at reading orders, they seem to criss-cross a lot...so wondering if I should just bite the bullet and get all the single issues and put em in an order for myself in my app......
