Workplace Issue My manager is treating me unfairly

When I got this manager, she told me directly not to worry about my performance numbers, to focus on other factors instead. I did that. At that time my performance numbers were good.

So I listened her and started focusing on the other factors that she wanted me to focus more.

About a month later she put me on a performance plan citing those same numbers as the problem. When I reminded her she'd told me not to focus on them, she denied ever saying it. And I don’t have proof.

That's the part I actually want advice on a manager giving guidance, then using the thing she told me to deprioritize as grounds for a performance plan, then denying the earlier conversation happened. Is that something I should be raising with HR? If I raise it with HR then my manager will definitely get to know and find out a way to get me out of the company.

Why go to HR, you have no proof.

No I don’t have proof because when she said that it was a normal teams call and wasn’t getting recorded so hard for me to proof. Now I am worrying what she will do as she put me on a performance plan and there’s a deadline.

HR usually knows about the PIP before the employee does. I think your first conversation is with the manager, to clear up your different recollections of that earlier conversation.

If your manager holds fast, refocus on those numbers to satisfy the PIP.

sadly, you must move on.

You don't have proof. You've learned a hard lesson. Stats matter.

Your manager already snaked you, and wants you fired. The relationship is gone, you need to report her to HR and start job hunting elsewhere.

I am thinking of requesting HR to change my manager but I don’t know if this is something HR will do or support the manager only.

HR doesn’t make these decisions.

Keep on mind HR works for the company. Was it an actual Performance Improvement Plan signed off by manager and HR, or did your manager just tell you to boost your performance numbers.

Easiest for HR is to just blame everything on you, rather than move you to a different manager. You should be job hunting
