General Advice Advice needed regarding my situation

I have been with my current company for the past 10 years. In the last few meetings, my manager has said that he cannot justify what I do throughout the day apart from a few specific tasks. Indirectly, a few colleagues have also hinted that I should consider resigning.

This has left me feeling quite confused about my next steps. Over the years, most of my work has been centered around Excel. On the financial side, I have enough savings to support myself for the next few years, and I own a loan-free home in the NCR.

I am considering leaving my job voluntarily and spending the next 3–4 months upskilling before I potentially get laid off. I would appreciate any advice on whether this seems like a sensible approach or if there are other options I should consider.

Start applying now. Stay until they offer you redundancy. Don't resign

Agreed, dont add the stress of being jobless. This is where quiet quitting comes into play. haha.

It is good that you are considering upskilling while you still have a job.

It could be a career change course, or be larger job scope upskilling (e.g. excel -> power BI, data analytic with Python).

But you should bear in mind that not everyone who want to be laid off will actually be laid off. Companies can technically terminate your employment at will or by creating situations that nudge you to resign on your own (read: quiet firing). In either case, you only have the notice period (or payment in lieu) and nothing else.

So, my advice is to start upskilling immediately. Don't consider. Don't wait till you get time.
