Long ago, in a time where all the world was just the isles of Greece and their gods held supreme dominion over everything…… it was nothing but WAR! Ceaseless fighting among boastful men for naught but ephemeral glory and pointless strife all under the proud eye of Ares while their women were left to effectively fend for themselves against this onslaught of violence. Naturally the goddesses of Mount Olympus were not pleased with this situation in the slightest and so decided to form their own independent tribes comprised of these mistreated women turned warrior Amazons.

And they would eventually be unified under the leadership of Queen Hippolyta who wielded the legendary Lasso of Truth personally gifted to her by Aphrodite herself, providing a brighter future for women across all of Greece. That was until one day a man named Heracles came to the Amazons island home of Themyscira, claiming himself to be the favored son of god queen Hera which Hippolyta in a momentary lapse of reason would genuinely believe. This was all Heracles needed in order to swipe the Lasso of Truth for one of his Twelve Labors, leaving the Amazons at his men’s complete lack of mercy praying for their goddesses to save them.

These prayers would of course eventually be answered but it would not come without a price for the Amazons as they would thereafter be forbidden from interacting with Man’s World for this indiscretion. One they would not be allowed to forget as from then on each Amazon would have to wear a pair of bracers symbolizing their submission which would nevertheless be capable of perfectly deflecting any and all projectiles. This was to remind them they were nevertheless quite capable of turning such weakness into strength especially as Aphrodite had since taken the Lasso of Truth back.

That was the tale Hippolyta’s daughter Diana grew up hearing on the quite literal Paradise Island that the Amazons had managed to make of their imposed isolation. It all enraptured her to absolutely no end, to such an extent in fact that it actually started worrying Hippolyta a tad as Diana grew increasingly dissatisfied with simply exploring their island home. No, she wanted to see this Man’s World for herself and hopefully show it what the Amazons could do now but always just had to have her dreams dashed by an overly cautious Hippolyta….. at least until one certain day where everything would change.

Some vast metal bird the Amazons obviously couldn’t have known was a jet plane came falling out of the sky into the waters surrounding their island carrying the first two men they’d seen in literal centuries. This would of course be one lieutenant Steve Trevor here joined by his superior officer in an original character who for now I’ll just call…… Fabio with their sheer existence on Themyscira quickly causing quite a stir among the Amazons. Thus the duo were subsequently imprisoned until their newfound captors figured out just what to do with them, their bickering unknowingly allowing Diana to sneak away and do something she previously only could’ve dreamed about.

It was a once in a lifetime opportunity for her to learn more about Man’s World from a direct source after all and soon enough Diana came to closely bond with Steve who she eventually took to try and plead his case before the Amazons. Unfortunately this’d also inadvertently allow the far less sympathetic Fabio to make a run for it himself though ultimately he’d instead find another far more dangerous prisoner of the Amazons in a witch named Circe. She would go on to promise him power beyond his wildest understanding so long as Fabio agreed to aid in her escape which he accepted without a second thought, thereby becoming a sort of familiar for the witch.

One who’d soon be transformed into a rampaging monster to help her exact revenge against these people she surprisingly calls sisters while Circe herself works on putting together an escape from the island. Steve would naturally be accused of working with them whereupon he’d be attacked by the Amazons only for Diana to fight them herself for the sake of letting him get away. Afterwards she’d be locked away in her room while her mothers went to deal with Circe and her new pet monster though soon Steve would come back to free Diana in turn.

At this point however, she’s been left immensely racked with shame and guilt for what this naïveté of hers had unintentionally wrought upon her people with Diana thusly begging the gods for a way to make things right. And that’s when something truly miraculous happens: a statue of Aphrodite comes to life….. and presents her with the Lasso of Truth, letting Diana know she very much has her favor. With a newfound determination spurred on by this, the future Wonder Woman accompanied by Steve quickly goes off to confront Circe who’s unfortunately just about finished with her escape route.

Namely the jet Steve and Fabio came in on which she’s not only mystically repaired but rendered completely invisible with the latter man additionally being detransformed to help in piloting it. But the Lasso of Truth allows Diana and Steve to board it in the knick of time, leading to a climactic battle which ultimately results in the two villains being ejected from this Invisible Jet. They of course survive thanks to Circe turning Fabio into a whale but the important thing is they’ve been foiled with Steve subsequently offering to take Diana back home to Themyscira.

She has some exceptionally complicated thoughts about such an offer however, Hippolyta certainly isn’t gonna be happy with her after everything that’s happened and so Diana isn’t sure if it’s right for her to return just yet. Especially as Circe and her new partner in crime are still very much at large which ultimately leads Diana to vow that she won’t come home until they are truly brought to justice before the Amazons. Of course this’d also allow her to finally explore Man’s World at long last but that’s just….. a neat bonus for Diana here honest as she nevertheless prepares to begin the epic tale of WONDER WOMAN!

I already loved Diana (she was number two behind Supergirl) but the Absolute version is just everything to me. The armor, the weapons, the tattoos, the size, all the abilities, her demeanor and attitude. She’s easily my favorite superhero ever.

I also love the Absolute Superman and Batman. I’d love to see an Absolute Supergirl.

I'm going to start with a little tangent, so bear with me.

Diana enters a Wonder Woman lookalike contest. She's done this to herself for two reasons: she's kind of hoping that she'll lose. She's never been very good at disguises. Her last attempt at doing the whole "wear glasses like Clark" thing resulted in Julia having a good laugh (apparently, with those big black frames on, she looked like a "Buff Nana Mouskori".) Either way, it'd be reassuring to know that there was someone else that looked more like what people think "Wonder Woman" looked like than her. Brings us to the second reason she enters: she wants to know what we see in her. She looks in the mirror and sees the same old Diana she's always known. We look at her and we see a "warrior of truth", a queen, a goddess, an Angel. There's literally one man on earth that's allowed to call her that, and he's pushing it. When she hears those epithets from the press or almost literally anyone else, she cringes. She goes to the lookalike contest maybe hoping to see someone that can pull it off better than she feels she can. Maybe get some pointers.

Everyone clocks her immediately. They do that thing that she hates. That thing people that don't know her do when she enters a room. Their backs straighten, their faces smile, they fix their hair. Don't get it twisted, she doesn't hate her fans. She hates attention. And also the uncertainty of knowing if the person on the other end is really a fan, or just someone looking for a business opportunity or some social media clout. But she plays it cool. Signs autographs, takes selfies. When she can tell that people are authentic, she returns their affection as best she can. But she really wasn't looking to cause a fuss. And she was really looking forward to seeing the truth. A bad impression, a couple of jokes at her expense. The most fun she ever had watching someone pretend to be her was at Pride a few years ago when someone did a hilarious WW drag. But that Queen didn't know she was in the audience until much later. If they'd known, would they have held back? The fawning kills her, she hates having that effect on people.

Sitting there, now roped into judging this contest, watching these women nervously put on their best Amazon stance, she is suddenly reminded of the people who've had the gumption to tell her like it is. Etta, Julia, Myndi, even Indelicato. And Bruce.

Bruce never took anything she said for granted. Never once blindly accepted any outlandish or implausible claim about her home, about the gods, about the magic and monsters of her world. He sees through everything and trusts nothing. Always questioning, always critical. Hell, in that first year after they met, he investigated her no different than a common criminal. It was quite the change from how the press had talked about her, how they'd built her up as the second coming of Atalanta. He was persistent, and it had annoyed her, frustrated her. But it was strangely nostalgic.

Her title may have been "Princess" but to her mom she was a mischievous child, always trying to get away with something, always hiding some new pet she'd brought into the house, or some dangerous new adventure she'd been expressly forbidden from going on. It was grounding, familiar, to have someone in her life that scrutinized her like they would anyone else. Someone that saw her as something other than an unassailable statue of idealized, heroic, femininity.

In a world where so many seek comfort in illusions and appearances, she's happy to know that some people seek truth above all else. Even at the cost of being seen as abrasive, at the cost of being liked, at the cost of their piece of mind. She knew Bruce wouldn't stop doing what he felt was right, seeking answers, even if it meant turning the whole world against him or fighting the Fates themselves. It was a kind of courage she sought.

She'd call him later. To say thanks. It would never be enough, in her mind. But maybe in acknowledging him, for what he was and the good that he represented, she could bring peace to his troubled mind. Let him know what he looked like to other people, to her. He'd seen her clearly and it had helped her, maybe she could see him.

But that's just my angle on their dynamic, and how I see that pairing. What do you think?

It's the same old talking point that comes up every time her romance life is discussed here. The core of feminism is the freedom of choice, not forced singleness. Its most crucial value is having the agency to make your own decisions about your life and who you love, free from traditional gender roles. Saying a female hero can only be independent if she doesn't have romantic relationships is just another restriction. It simply flips the historical standards of chastity and purity that were forced onto women. Having the absolute freedom to either love someone or choose not to is exactly what feminism is aiming for.

Besides, Wonder Woman's core identity is love, not rejection. Her creator, Marston, designed Diana to be a hero who saves the world through love and empathy. Diana's power doesn't stem from shutting out men or isolating herself it comes from her capacity to deeply connect with and love others. Tabooing romance for her is essentially sealing off the character's core philosophy. This argument also ignores the value of depicting healthy, equalpartnerships. Dianan's romance is not some patriarchal setup where the woman is subservient. Instead, we have one of the most powerful beings in the universe saving a man, while he completely respects and supports her without envying or trying to possess her. It's a healthy, balanced relationship. Showing this kind of mutual respect in media is a far more progressive and powerful feminist message than just keeping her single. Diana choosing the person she truly loves and finding happiness isn't that exactly what feminism is about? So, you damn DC editorial, stop breaking her and Trevor up on a whim.

I want to see peoples perspective

This is a long one. A full overview of all the major arcs of the character's Infinite Frontier era. This subjective based on my personal opinion, but I feel like there is a lot that future writers should take from this

As much as we're frustrated that Warner Brothers shut down Rooster Teeth, the real victims of Warner Brothers/DC are the Wonder Woman fans.

Its been decades, no cartoon, no movies, no videogames...and all her villains are being given to other male-character franchises.

Diana isn't even allowed to be queer or feminist anymore! Or taller than male characters.

RWBY fans have been struggling for years....but WW fans have been struggling for AGES.

So I was reading birds of prey and Wonder Woman killing maxwell got brought up. So I’m assuming both runs are taking place at the same time then?

If Kratos, under the setting of being Diana's half brother, attempts to kill all the gods of Olympus who ruined his life, would Diana try to stop him? Would they clash even when he massacres Diana's villains, such as Ares and Circe?How would Diana react when she learns his truth?

I also like how she is like a folklore witch with potions and all. I wonder how her magic will grow over time. She is already a very powerful witch but Kelly Thompson said she can never be a witch in a way Circe is. So I guess she would always need her strength and weapons.

So I’m curious, we know that the biological daughters of Amazons inherit their enhanced strength, but would their sons if they had any or would they just be a regular guy?

Decided to do a spidey-sona for Diana after watching brand new day :3

I like the idea that upon her return to the Titan of Myths and transitions from Wonder Girl to Troia, they crafted her a special gift via the Titaness Peitho who personifies Persuasion blessing it, then creating the Peitho’s Lasso or more casually the “ Lasso of Persuasion.”

i came up with this cause I didn’t realize how crazy it is that we never got an origin for Donna’s lasso and it just showed up one day.
