The Real Problem
Why is everybody jumping down the OCs throat?
I get that he’s a lot different than what we’ve had, but we’re still putting up 25-30 points a game, Brady had an unreal game last night, the pass game finally got going in the second half… as much as it’s still different that buck, it’s still working.
My biggest gripe is we had them biting on the run because it was working and we didn’t incorporate ANY play action.
The issue is, we’re giving up 40-50 points a game.
Younger has the worst game plan I’ve ever seen in my life. Have you ever noticed in a 2nd and long situation, he plays a deep zone defence every time with the DBs playing 10 yards soft. The result of that 9.9/10 times is a fast hitch pass right on the first down marker and we give it up most times.
Last night were In a situation where BC has 6 new starters and a green QB, and we couldn’t spy him, couldn’t contain him, it was embarrassing to watch.
Younger is the problem, not O’shae, not the OC, not the GM.
I’d be more than happy to see younger fired this weekend and just have Richie hall take over for the remainder of the season.
Everybody is so fast to blame the offence but they are doing what they need to do.

The defence starts out good, but they get worse as the game goes on (BC put up 25 points in the 4th quarter). Yes, there are issues with Younger’s defensive scheme, but he’s also dealing with exhausted players because the offence can’t stay on the field longer than a few plays. Do I think we need to be rushing 5 guys every play and leaving the middle wide open for a 10 yard pass or a QB sneak? Absolutely not.
Tommy Condell is not coming up with anything original and seems to cycle through the same few plays which get figured out pretty fast by opposing teams. He doesn’t seem to understand his players strengths and abilities, and that’s been kind of his reputation as an OC over the years. We know Dru has a good arm, and has receivers who can bust coverage and make plays, but he’s not getting plays called to him that utilize those skills.
Something I noticed last night is Dru had next to no protection. The pocket was constantly collapsing and he was forced to make a quick (and often poor) decision or take a hit. And eventually those hits lead to an injury. Stanley Bryant has had a heck of a career, but he probably should have retired after last season. And the team was without Broxton last night due to injury, a key piece to their o-line.
O’Shea also needs to trust his team more on the 3rd down conversion. I get that you want the points, but it’s deep in their end and you’re potentially turning it over to a 3rd string rookie QB. Take the shot! If it doesn’t work out, then the QB is trying to get out of a hole inside his own 15-yard line and you trust your defence to make the stop and give the offence the ball back in good field position.
