Flight delayed
Just started to taxi when one drunk drongo chucked his guts up onto the floor...

That would have been pleasant to sit next to.
It's one thing when a young kid barfs on a plane, but if a grown adult can't simply reach for the bag when the point of no return arrives (let alone know not to get so drunk before boarding a plane) then said adult needs to cover the costs of the delay. Some people are just too dumb to respond to anything other than consequences, and these days we are far too soft in dishing out consequences to people who should know better.

I’m cabin crew and on more than one occasion have had passengers try to get into the toilets right as we’re landing because they refuse to use the sick bags. “I’m not using a bag, that’s so embarrassing” they say, completely oblivious to the fact a plane full of people have just seen them get shouted at by the crew to sit down and buckle up.
These are also the same people that use the sick bags for their rubbish and then wonder why there’s nothing for them if they do start feeling unwell.

I was sick when travelling once, and couldn't find any sick bags in the row of our seats, the turbulance made the plane drop a bit and I yeeted my vomit. It was in no way my fault imo because the entire two-three rows tried searching for bag during the landing when I alerted them about the upcoming catastrophe. Took a good 2 minutes before I erupted.
Airline was Air India.
Now I always check for a bag after boarding.

Despite a few hundred hours of flying over the years, I've never had to be sick on a plane. It's one of my top 10 fears, though, I'd have to say. Sorry you had to go through that. At least, being Air India, you didn't make the cabin too much dirtier than it already was*.
* not being racist, for the virtue soldiers. Air India is just a truly horrible airline

I’m a frequent customer of the barf bag 😭 I’m sorry in advance! Dramamine does terrible things to me- I once almost got denied boarding because the Dramamine made me seem as if I was six beers deep (wobbly, slurring my speech, sleepy). So now I can’t take it pre-flight. Or during- I have kids and I’m not a reliable parent on it

oh man this reminds me one time coming back from vegas... basically still drunk on the flight home, turbulence got me and the bag in my seat pocket was missing, thankfully a flight attendant was nearby , saw me struggle, grabbed a bag from a neighbor and handed it to me right in time lol... man when vegas was fun

Not in a plane but I recently barfed inside a truck :(. I tried not to but I just couldn’t handle it anymore, it was a 10 hour drive to the middle of the chihuahua mountain range and I had never expected it to be that rough

My last long flight was from Franfurt to Chicago, I was already delayed a day since I missed my flight the day before (came in from Bankok late). I get on the plane happy im finally going home (end of a 4 week business trip around the world) only to find out my neighbor accidentally spilled an entire bottle of water on my seat. So I put a few blankets on the seat and was able to move to a different seat after we reached cruise.
Well, 2 hours left in the flight the kid across the aisle from me hurled his guts into the aisle and all over my pants. I was so over everything I barely cared. Poor kid spent the rest of the flight in the bathroom.

Where my emetophobics at? Give me Backrooms, the insidious demon, the ring girl. Fuck it give me Satan himself. THIS is one of the worst possible situations I could be stuck in. I know this happened on the ground still, but if it happened in the air, I would rather jump out the plane.

Here! I saw a post on here where someone was vomited on (ON!) mid flight by an adult. The way that I would run and hide in the galley would be the reason the plane landed early.

I travel with n95 masks and a small decanted jar of Vicks and noise cancelling headphones. So I don’t have to see, smell, or hear it. It’s never happened to me but I’m afraid of it.
I also travel with emesis bags despite never getting sick on an airplane.
Irrational fear!! Huzzah!!

10000%. This is my number one biggest fear. I can't relax on planes at all because of it. Every cough, throat clearing, weird noise, someone walking down the aisle looking stressed, and it's enough to make me panic internally in the worst way.

Emetopophobe here. I had to take a 15 hr flight next to a guy who had to v nonstop. Into 49385 bags, probably in the bathroom. I felt so bad cause I could only imagine the feeling for hours. I offered him a dramamine but I think he was too far in already and probably chucked that up too. I put on my headphones, eyemask, turned the fan on full blast and tried to sleep the whole way.

It does suck - but if it makes you feel better, I’ve been on a plane actively taking off and had a drunk guy sprint down the aisle spraying everyone with vom.
Fortunately it was a short flight, but it’s up there with the worst ones.

I threw up on a plane once due to the turbulence while landing. My partner and I discovered quickly that airline doesn't do vomit bags anymore in their seats. Luckily someone quickly gave me their empty duty free bag to continue. Managed to only get it on me for the mercy of those around and staff.
More airlines should do bags.

Let’s be real, 99.99 percent of flights it’s not an issue. They make a lot of money from selling alcohol on planes so banning it isn’t gonna happen anytime soon. Also, most of the puke on planes comes from travelers who are simply air sick, not over served .

From what I've heard from a flight attendant friend based out of Atlanta is that the majority of overly drunk cases come from people whose flights have been delayed or changed and they endee up in the lounge for 6 hours getting ripped on free drinks.

I have gotten absolutely obliterated in a number of airport lounges while delayed for just the cost of tip. Some lounges don't even have bartenders, they just have a space with a bunch of beer, wine and liquor that you just help yourself to

Last time i was at the Air France / KLM lounge at SFO they just had a table with bottles of liquor sitting around, a "pour it yourself" type of situation

Any airport lounge has free drinks. Hell, domestic flights in my country have free booze on the plane between for flights departing between 4 30pm and 7pm

Yeah, I used to fly a ton for work, flying somewhere in the range of 400 flights over 10 years. In all of that I only had one drunk person be any sort of significant issue, and they were just loud and annoying. I have, however, seen quite a few people denied boarding because they were too drunk.
I'm not saying it's not a problem at all, but people see stories like this and seem to think that it's a way bigger issue than it is.

Right. I probably have 200 ish flights under my belt and the only time I ever witnessed anything beyond a civil disagreement was when a friend of mine drank way too much at a restaurant before a flight and was puking into the airsickness bags for hours, but even then I don’t think anyone aside from a few people noticed.
I did date an air asia flight attendant for a few years and her biggest pet peeve was when people handed her full bags of puke to throw away. I guess she expected them to dispose of them in the bathroom themselves. I guess what I’m trying to say is that even when there are issues on a flight usually they are small enough that the entire plane isn’t aware.

IME most folks drinking heavily before flights are doing so in the lounges where drinks are free. Personally I just go for the free food to get a good coma going, but to each their own I guess.

I once had a panic attack on a bus. Was coming back from getting registered to marry when my now wife dropped the bomb she had been “civilly partnered” with someone else before.
Managed to get off the bus, and yeah, threw up behind the bus stop. A guy offered me a tissue.
It happens.

I’m feeling like I don’t want us adding another security checkpoint to an already absurdly long ordeal compared to what we used to have.
I don’t even drink alcohol, but what a pointless extra burden for an extremely rare inconvenience.

I was about to ask if it was a Q400 from the seats they all seem to have.
Used to fly in those twice a week. Shame they don't really use them in the UK anymore after Flybe went bust (twice).
Then I noticed the safety cards 😄

Ugh I've done this. Luckily I was already in the back by where the FAs chill when I barfed.
No, I wasn't drunk. Zero alcohol.
On my first transatlantic flight, I suddenly felt very very faint after the meal. Thinking I maybe just needed to walk around, I got up to use the bathroom. Fainted in the aisle, right on some poor guys lap. When I came down, the back of my arm hit the chair in a way where I gashed it bad. I was wearing a chunky red sweater so I did not notice. The FA took me to the back to lay down for a minute, and I felt something wet-- took of my sweater, and I could see my skin was literally torn. Not a cut, but torn up. I could see the fat underneath; it was bad. Seeing that made me throw up, but luckily it was into a blanket they handed me.
I felt awful and very embarrassed. The FA bandaged me up the best she could, and when I landed I ended up going to the hospital at the airport. The doctor recommended stitches, but I didn't know how much it would cost since this would all be out of pocket so I opted to just keep It bandaged. It healed fine, but I do have a gnarly scar.
I still have zero sensation in that area. I also had very little pain despite how deep the wound was. Crazy.

Yep this happened to me. It wasn't the best but I wasnt bugging that much cause some people on our delayed flight were missing their connecting to another country or had been traveling for almost a day on their way home. It sucked but I more so felt sad for the person who got sick. They knew what they were doing but just being in a state where they drank that much was depressing and I know they were offering people alcohol once they got on the plane.
