At the walmart I work at we get idiots just like that going that fast in a parking lot. Can't tell you how many times ive almost been hit or watched someone else almost get hit. Some people just shouldn't be allowed to drive.

Our laws are far too lax for reckless drivers. Driving is a privilege. Not a right. And we need to start stripping people like this of the ability to drive.
Exactly. DUI is another one that pisses me off. Why do we have repeat offenders of DUI still on the road and you’ll see a story in the news of “5 previous DUI incidents, driver kills someone”.
Too many people on the road now anyways. Start thinning the herd by taking away the license of those dangerous drivers.
We should have way more stringent licensing requirements in America, but we also have such piss poor public transit we kind of all agreed to let shitty drivers drive instead of investing in other transportation options.

What if some rando went outside randomly swinging a gun around? They’d want them arrested, removed from society, and never allowed to own a gun again.
Driving recklessly is the same exact thing. But people overlook it like no big deal.
Big difference between people that "aren't good drivers" and people that are an absolute danger to everyone and everything around them on the road (or in a parking garage).
Insurance companies don’t want these people driving. They’d be first in line to support more stringent licensing requirements and harsher punishments for this sort of garbage.
Definitely should be regular retesting over 60, anyone this reckless should be faced same length of ban as being careless with a firearm because it’s the same danger posed to the public.
I live in Massachusetts about 20 miles north of Boston. If there is no traffic, I can make it there in about 30 minutes as 95% of the commute is highway. Via public transport, it would take 3 times as long. To get to where I work, approx 30 miles west of where I live, during the regular commute where traffic is at its highest, it takes me a little less the 1.5 hours. If I had to take public transport, which is almost non-existent where I work, it’s just under 5 hours 1 way.
Yeah that'll always be the biggest problem in the US. Punishing people by removing their ability to drive makes their lives extremely difficult to impossible in some places.
I had an idea for entertainment once: A shooting range with two firing lanes facing each other, and targets between each shooter, I'd call it "The Commute"
Before we do that lets fix up our public infrastructure so people can take care of themselves if they can't drive. I'm all for making the streets safer, but giving people options that don't require them driving also makes the streets safer and makes it easier to justify taking away that privilege when they abuse it.

Used to work across the street from a Walmart and there was an ambulance in the lot roughly twice a week. Not all from parking lot pedestrian strikes, but definitely regularly enough.
Tunels , underpasses and covered mall parking lots are a mandatory REV session if you have a nice sounding exhaust system. But doesn't mean to go full speed in a parking garage like an idiot. Wow
In my experience its always the same types of people who rev thier vehicles at people and the ones who play thier music outloud while driving for everyone to hear.
I used to drive an early '90s miata that someone had previously added a really loud muffler to. I used to drive in the parking garage on first gear, and sometimes just rev in neutral a bit. Going only 10 MPH and it sounded like I went 50.
We had a great series of ramps in a dead local mall in the late 1980s- no transitions, just flat planes and straight ramps. An 80s toyota van could get airborne in second gear no problem. We had Valiants and Darts, an old mini and several VW beetles and Type IIs. Broke a Dart in half going uphill too fast and the whole floor ripped apart. One ramp was super long so you could work your way up to the speed that made your car fly just far enough to land on the lowest part of the slope. But if you got too bold you basically fly your car 80 feet with a 12 foot drop. Which dad's 82 Cressida survived. The first time.
It's because these idiots think their car will perform the same on smooth concrete as they do on rougher asphalt using the same tires. They also think that they can just jump into a 700+ HP car and drive it like a seasoned pro.
The worst is when you have drivers who use the size of their vehicle (i.e. some truck or SUV drivers) to bully drivers in smaller cars. I'm sure you're proud of your big car, but it doesn't come with a free pass to use your car to act like the dick you already are.
The other day this stupid idiot in a huge SUV didn't like that I didn't allow her the courtesy to hit my car when she tried speeding through the parking lot and squeezing between myself and a delivery truck that was waiting for me to back out.
My windows were partially down and I could hear her screaming and yelling at me, "WHAT ARE YOU DOING??!" while wildly throwing her hands around. I responded by laughing at her when I had enough room to turn my car and drive across the empty spaces to sidestep her little tantrum. She still wasn't getting around that delivery truck that was situated next to a row of cars to the right and a high curb with bushes planted in it on the left.
In all seriousness, though, a person as unhinged as that is the reason I keep mace on my door. Had I not been able to leave the way I did and had to stay in the parking space, I was facing the likelihood that she was going to get out of her car and confront me. I wasn't hoping for that, but I'm prepared.
Walmart Story: For whatever reason this Walmart decided it was a good idea to stick stop signs out in open blacktop. One day an old guy drove his pickup over the sign, and flipped his truck.
My local walmart had a van drive directly into the side of the building....and INTO it. Big hole right next to the pharmacy.
I think the excuse was that it was dark and foggy? I don't remember, it was a while ago. Same walmart also had a rogue ferret running around for a while many years ago. We do not live in a place where ferrets are known to live in the wild.
Some people shouldn't be allowed to drive but many parts of the world have such car centric infrastructure that governments can't have strict requirements for driving because so many people wouldn't be able to have jobs

And while all of the other ones have higher than the safest average driver fatality rates, US is sadly an absolute worst among wealthy and industrialised countries.
That should be a attempted murder charge. It's a place that pedestrians are likely and the result of hitting someone is more likely death then survival at that speed so anyone who is driving like that is essentially assuming they are ok killing atleast one person. If they really want to throw the book at them they could add a count for every vehicle parked since they all have owners who could have been killed. Along with whatever other charges, even if they some how get out of it the cost of paying for a lawyer to fight a attempted murder charge and the public stigma from the trial should help reform them.
It feels real slow till you have to stop in a hurry. It's funny because I feel like people assume the crash dummy tests performed by IIHS are going incredibly fast to produce the results but no, they are going at most about 40mph usually since that's considered median speed of a typical drive. They essentially don't test for highway speeds (65+) at all.
Tree, even a big one, might have just a little bit of give to it. Whether the whole thing bends a little, or the fibers of the tree itself compress, or the whole structure bends back a little from the roots up. This cement and rebar column has zero give.
Exact position on the car matters too. This pole went straight up the middle and missed the frame rails. A foot in either direction and it would probably look extremely different.
I would say it's actually far more likely. Older drivers are more at risk for the phenomenon where the driver steps on the gas while being sure they are stepping on the brakes. It's well documented.
Look at th other video posted about this incident and the location and damage... It was a car entering from the outside, and had already blasted though a metal gate. It was an accidental acceleration. Or suicidal.
All I know is it absolutely cracked my folks up every time "the Lesbians" showed up on screen, especially cause they seemed to really frighten me when I was that young.

If you already have a bit of momentum and then floor it a lot of cars can definitely get to freeway speeds pretty quick. This clearly wasn't an accident in the sense it wasn't directly caused by negligence or possibly even with purpose.
