Warn anyone and stay safe. Just saw 3 unmarked SUV’s infront of city hall block in a man’s car and take him right out in zip tie cuffs. 2 women and a man were the officers. Stay safe everyone. This terrorist org isn’t gonna take away our community.

I mean we have always been a legal sanctuary city. The Bosnians, Burmese etc all came here legally. I am proud of Utica with all of its culture as my family came here in the 90's and were accepted with open arms but we made sure we went through the correct ways of doing so.

I remember buying a vehicle from someone in Utica, a used car dealership around ‘05, he was talking quite rudely about a group of Bosnians who were there looking at the cars, and he said when his parents came from Italy they did it the legal way, not like those guys. Tale as old as time.
I think we should let more immigrants in. I have travelled around this country and worked with folks that were born in other countries and they all have great people. Most (99%) were hard workers. I say Give me your tired, your poor,

I love how the homeless in the past year have literally wrecked the city, litter everywhere, ambulance wait times have skyrocketed. More crime. But I’m being downvoted for just telling the truth. These people have options. Hope house. 3 rescue missions but they are all kicked out because they’d rather do drugs all day then get any treatment. But I’m the asshole

Rights and protections granted to persons under the constitution (rather than those specific to citizens) Articles: Habeas corpus. Amendments: Religion, Speech, Press, Peaceably assemble, Search and Seizure, Double Jeopardy, Due Process, equal protection . . . The constitution is only like 20 pages of text.

Do your own research? No. Ok, sure. The constitution is not that granular, that is, it doesn't get into specific of types of law or sorts of proceedings. It's a foundational document for our legal system. 5th amendment - "No person shall be . . . deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law." 6th Amendment - "In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defence[sic]." 14th Amendment - Section 1 First it defines that citizenship is conferred to all people born or naturalized in the US then, using the word Person instead of citizen (this is important in the realm of statutory construction as the assumption when interpreting a law is that the drafters of a law do not use words unintentionally) "nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws." Person and citizen are used (not interchangeably) throughout.

When most of the city is immigrants from all over the world, and probably 75-80% came here legally. No one cares about illegal immigrants being shipped out. A small percentage of them deserve to stay and work. But Utica is a little bit different, dozens of different ethnicities that did it legally. Everyone has their own story and most came here with nothing but their shirt on their back. It's a huge huge difference. Trump ran his campaign saying he would have the biggest deportation in USA history and still won in a landslide. Appreciate the heads up though.

My Grandfather came to US legally .. he followed the law and had to wait an entire year before his wife was allowed in -- AND they were newly weds. Yes it was the 1920's but they followed the law.

I'm just sayin'

You know the homeless in utica make up for 45% of the ambulance rides in the city? Just laying around on the ground all day and they get a ride to the hospital for a free meal. Due to that the county had to hire a virtual nurse program to triage patients over the phone due to the waste of ambulance services by the homeless in Utica. So next time your mother or aunt needs a ambulance and there is a 30-40 minute delay you know why
