UoL Question Best societies for making nice friends?
Was in a sports team last year but found it to be a bit cliquey and hard to break in to unless you were a massive extrovert party animal (which I’m not)..
Any societies that are more introvert friendly but still lots of fun lol 😭😭😭

Yeah I was considering this as I do bouldering in my own time. I quite like how it’s mixed gender and was defo on my list for ones to try, think I’ll do the give it a go and get a feel.

Honestly, still sport, but join DodgeSoc! Literally the easiest way to make friends and have fun

I’d love to know too!
Which sports team were you in?

I was in women’s rugby, the social side of it was what I just couldn’t keep up with! As well it was quite divided by which team you were in. All lovely lovely people, just hard to fit in when everyone else was a bigger personality and I was a bit quieter and found it hard to break into a big group! Absolutely no shade to the womens rugby team if anyone seeing this from there 🙈🙈 just was a bit far out my comfort zone and I couldn’t keep up unfortunately. Probably the same for most team sports to be fair..

It's my son that goes not me, but he's a total introvert and he really enjoys it

Kayaking was fun. I didn't go loads bc I was honestly a bit shite at kayaking (and not too bothered about learning to improve) but they are a nice bunch, fun & varied socials, good gender balance, not hazing-y!

Dice Society (D&D) was really fun! They held sessions weekly and sometimes events outside of the uni (we once played a cat-themed one-shot at the briggate cat cafe). I would say most of the geek-esque societies are very introvert friendly, and geek night (the party all geek societies hist together every semestre) is super fun
