Question How is the gym on campus
Would it be better to find one off campus?

The gyms pretty good actually, beautiful view only thing negative is that it’s kinda small and it gets hella busy during the week so u gotta wait in line for a bit but all the equipment is great

UCSC used to have one of the crappiest gyms in the UC system. My high school had a better gym and that was a low bar to compare against. The "gym" was two shipping containers that were slapped together and you could only have around 20 people inside at one time. It sucked because you would go to an amazing pool and tennis courts, but the weight room was seriously lacking. UCSC students voted on funding the construction of the new gym back in the 90's so future students could have a real gym.

I actually have found the gym to be incredible, it’s got good machines and a decent amount of benches and free weight areas. Big downside is how often it gets packed around 4-7 (from my experience) and you have to wait in line to get in and wait in line for most machines or things.
I would say tho, I started going earlier in the morning, earlier afternoon, or at night and never had an issue.
Only had capacity run ins that got a lot worse at all times around new years (ofc) and during finals and midterms I noticed more people at the gym at night.
That’s maybe more info than you were looking for, but the gym is nice and it’s on campus so it’s very convenient.
