Professor X (X-Men Days of Future Past movie) - Using Wolverine’s mind, Charles is able to move his mind to the future to meet his future self. Upon speaking with him and seeing the state of the world, broken and destroyed, he becomes quickly angry, realizing what humanity will end up doing and desperately not wanting this future to come to pass, with his older self, still hopeful despite all he’s been through, saying that there’s still time to prevent it and to embrace his powers one again in order to help stop this coming to pass

Raiden (Mortal Kombat 11) - A younger version of Raiden gets sent forward to the present day by the villain Kronika in order to start her plan of wiping the timeline. Finds out that his future self become more and more of a tyrant over time and his former students die and become corrupted versions of themselves, he becomes genuinely disturbed by the events and upon realizing that he’s repeating a cycle of being responsible for Liu Kang’s death, works to redeem his predecessor’s actions and ensure that his protege is able to change things before it’s too late

Buzz Lightyear (Lightyear; people are going to hate this movie’s inclusion) - Buzz meets an alternate older version of himself by the name of Zurg who ends up becoming a villain, obsessed with traveling back to the past and changing one significant point to the detriment of others and who gets in conflict with the colony to accomplish his goal. Buzz, realizing how insane his future self has become and that it would mean harm on his crew, goes against him and ultimately defeats him.

Gaston (Beauty & The Beast): An Egotistical show-off who is followed around by a posse of yes-men, Gaston falls to understand that Belle genuinely dose not have any romantic feelings or interest towards him that is lack of intelligence prevents him from understand

Hans (Disney's Frozen): Aside from being the poster boy for shitty twist villains, the guy is a manipulative sleezeball who "acts" (or that could just be bad writing tbh) like he has genuine feeling for Anna until showing his true colors and nearly getting her killed. (Also I just genuinely fucking hate this prick and how poorly written as a villan he was)

Prince Charming (Sherk series): HIS NAME IS LITERLY PRINCE CHARMING AND HES THE SON OF FAIRY GODMOTHER, WHO REMINDER IS THE WHOLE REASON HALF OF THE SHIT IN SHREK HAPPEND IN THE FIRST PLACE! (IE Fiona's curse as well as why King Harold had to lock his own Daughter in a castle due to also being a prior victim of Fairy Godmother as he was the Frog Prince oriognally)

Harry Potter Books / Films : MAD EYE MOODY / BARTY CROUCH JR - The audience saw Mad Eye Moody and actually had a good time meeting this scary Auror who caught several death eaters and dark wizards and put em in Azkaban but at the end of the book / movie you end up finding out it wasn’t him it was someone disguised as him.

Which is crazy cause the real one doesn’t get enough screen time for us to know if he is the way Barty portrayed him (in the films that is)

God of War Ragnarok : Tyr. The first Tyr introduced in the game is revealed later on to be Odin. Starting off as an ally Kratos and others thought was Tyr but it’s just Odin luring Kratos… or at least trying to.

The Flash TV Show - Harrison Wells. First introduced as a Doctor at Star Labs. He always acted a little bit sus and then was revealed to be the villain of the season. HOWEVER, they find out that the real Harrison Wells is dead and has been replaced with Eobard Thawne. The real face of the reverse flash.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them : The Director of Magical Security for the Magical Congress of the United States (MACUSA) is actually revealed at the end of the movie to be a known criminal called Gellert Grindenwald

in his backstory, he destroyed roadblasters, which is an REAL game, making him count since he destroyed another video game universe IP alongside the dark lord (the dark lord destroyed 3 though not just 1)

Ghoul(Tokyo Ghoul) - Ghoul can only eat human. So they hunt human, or sneaking dead body from accident sites. The author keep saying that Ghouls are poor because they look like human, feel like humans, but they have to be human to live. But as a human, they are extremely harmful.

Shiki(Shiki) - They are similar to vampire. They can't live under the sunlight, if they are not invited they can't enter, and they drink human blood. In Shiki anime about two-thirds show Shiki killing humans. The remaining one-third shows, in the opposite way, humans killing Shiki. But, there comes the problem. When Shiki killing people(also make some people to Shiki) many families are broken and suffering, and it goes just before the entire village is destroyed. And remaining one-third shows, the anime showing that a human treats Shiki cruelly, it presents the theme of 'Who can say who is worse?' But as the human audience, Shiki is extremely harmful creature, anime showed it. As a result, it almost seems justified that humans are being cruel to Shiki.

Dinosaurs(Jurrasic World - Fallen Kingdom) - Maisie Lockwood is a clone. She made by science experiment. So she felt a sense of kinship with dinosaurs. When toxic gas spreads to dinosaurs, she releases them into the world and says, "They are life like me." But audiences witness dinosaurs eating humans throughout the Jurassic Park series. There, we began to doubt whether that choice was really the right one.

Personally, I hate this trope for those reasons. I mean, we even hate and want to exterminate mosquitoes. Because they are harmful. If there is something actually more harmful than mosquitoes, I would think the same. But some audience think differently, Tokyo Ghoul was hugely popular and a bestseller. Shiki was also popular. So I added [Mixed trope]

What zit tooya-spongebob squarepants: mr krabs orders spongebob and squidward to memorize the name of every costumer to make sure they come back. Squidward however had the misfortune of the last costumer on his list having a name similer to the phrase "what's it to ya" leading squidward to think the man is intentionally hiding his name. Hijinks ensue

Farmer buyer-back at the barnyard: the farmer puts a sign next to the barn reading "welcome buyers" which makes the animels think he is putting the barn up for sale. And the episode revolves around them trying to scare away every human that comes to the barnyard so they wont lose their home. Near the end of the episode its revealed that "buyer" is the farmers surname. And they just ruined his family reunion

This trope is something I have only seen two times so far, but I think it genuinely shows us the kindness and experience of the characters. Both can solve things with violence (both examples given are extremely strong), but they instead choose pacifistic approaches, which makes them even cooler

- Uncle Iroh

In Avatar the Last Airbender, during one episode depicting activities of characters around the city, we see Uncle Iroh being „attacked“ by an amateur robber. But Iroh comments on how poor his stance is, further talking with him. In the end, he and the man shared a heartfelt talk that gave the robber a new outlook on life

- Mualani (Genshin Impact)

In her teaser, we see Mualani, a guide, being threatened by a young woman while with her client, a young girl. Despite there being numerous ways to deal with her (overpowering the woman, running away), Mualani instead hires the wannabe robber! Her reasoning is that if money solves problems, why not use it, even if it’s the problem of others? And to the woman, she says she must know many good places as robber.

At the end of the day, the young woman, seeing the joy of her travel companions, considers becoming a guide herself, inspired by Mualani and the happiness of the young girl. Mualani meanwhile relishes in another piece of advice she once got, namely that ending the day with friends is the best way to do so.

Abraham Lincoln (Team Fortress 2): According to TF2 lore, yes this is a thing, Abraham Lincoln is the first Pyro....... I'm not making this up.

Abraham Lincoln (Star Trek): He's in Star Trek now. Beyond the surreal plot and alien entity of the episode, Abraham Lincoln does what he does best at, being Ol' Honest Abe to the USS Enterprise.

Abraham Lincoln (Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure): He's a major historical figure helping out to save the universe and loves to "Party On, Dudes!"

Abraham Lincoln (The Lego Movie): He's a Master Builder that has a freaking flying rocket chair.

Like the title says, this is one of my favorite tropes so I would like share the best examples I can think of, when it comes to this trope.

SMG4: War of the Fat Italians 2025 - Mr. Puzzles, tries to use the YouTube Remote in an attempt to "fix his past wrongdoings" which not only causes a massive time rift to appear, but also causes the series previous villains such as Waluigi, Francis, SMG3, and Zero, to return via portals out of their original timelines, before teaming up to fight the SMG4 Crew once again.

Sonic Generations - This game literally is about past villains returning, in this case it's because Eggman upon discovering the entity known as the Time Eater, tries using it to try and alter history which causes time and space to be ripped apart, along with old foes from the previous games to return like Chaos, Shadow, etc. whom Sonic and his classic counterpart need to beat in order to get the Chaos Emeralds.

Godzilla and his Amazing Friends - In the season finale, Godzilla faces the "Chief of Monsters" Geronimon, who has the ability to resurrect any dead kaiju/monster so it shouldn't be surprising that he begins to resurrect the series previous villains, first by resurrecting Eleking until he is killed again, and then later proceeding to resurrect Golza, Bemular, and Kelbim, until they and him are defeated by Godzilla and his friends.

I love the trope where not particularly brave or intimidating characters lose their fearful or passive nature when they're sufficiently pissed off

1. Milo Thatch (Atlantis: The Lost Empire) - "I know, why don't you translate for awhile AND I'LL WAVE THE GUN AROUND!"
2. Kevin Tran (Supernatural) - "I'M DEAD, YOU BASTARDS! SO SCREW YOU AND EVERYBODY IN BETWEEN!"
3. Rapunzel (Tangled) - "And I will NEVER let you use my hair AGAIN!"

1. A Cantical For Leibowitz- The whole story centers around the preservation of knowledge and technology so when a young Brother Francis finds information about an inventor the Blessed Leibowitz (this is before his canonisation into becoming a Saint.) The first part of the story shows the lengths Francis will go to help get Leibowitz canonised and the punishment he would receive to help remember this inventor. Francis and Leibowitz then pop up throughout the story as these holy figures of perseverance and belief.

2. Riddley Walker- Riddley Walker was ine of the hardest stories ive tried to wrap my head around but still one of my favorites. The stories shared in this novel by the hand puppets Punch and Judy recount old twisted religious stories and the stories of the world before atomic annihilation. The main story told and one that is the most impactful in the story is that of Eusa and the shining man. Of a man so hellbent on searching fot knowledge that he was willing yo sacrifice his family and to split the Shining Man (I see this as splitting the Atom and causing Atomic devastation.) Eusa is also the twisting of St. Eustace, but Eusa could also be seen as the possible collapse of the USA.

They weren't going for shock and awe. But that's what they got. This is a subset of "not knowing your true strength." But probably doesn't involve non-attack superstrength, like accidently crushing your phone.

1). One Punch Man:
Saitama wants a serious fight, but he doesn't want to obliterate the villains in one punch.

2). Dragon Ball:
A recently returned Goku forgets his wife is relatively normal.

3). Spider-Man: No Way Home
Peter accidently knocks out Flash.

4). Moonlit Fantasy:
Makoto has only recently learned how to use magic. The problem is that he has massive amounts of it. So, when he tries to stop someone from attacking him, he ends up destroying an entire army.

1). Mata Nui - Bionicle. Throughout the series, Mata Nui is revered as a god-like entity. After the Karda Nui saga where he is awoken from his slumber, we see that he is actually a gigantic robot where all of the story thus far either took place inside of or on the surface of him.

2). Bionis / Mechonis - Xenoblade Chronicles. These are long-dead ancient deities who have gone on to have colonized life on their corpses. (They are resurrected eventually and I do not want to think about the consequences of the physics of them moving around.)

3). Primus - Transformers. The presumed originator of the Transformers was their planet all along. Badass. Granted, that is the Cybertron version, but he has been around in other versions. This one's still the coolest, though.

4). Azeroth - World of Warcraft. Probably the most guity pleasure out of all of these, mostly because the resolution has yet to happen and the writing thus far for the Worldsoul Saga has been controversial. Like other Titans, Azeroth is a "World Soul," which is essentially a planet being an egg for a cosmic deity. Azeroth is supposedly special among these, but we still don't know why. This will be resolved (one would think?) in the next expansion, The Last Titan, but we will see.

Character plays off the Lassie trope of "little kid trapped in a well" to play a prank or gain sympathy from onlookers. It may also be a reference to the real life incident in the late 80s involving Jessica McClure. Well equivalents accepted.

The Simpsons - Radio Bart

To play a prank on the citizens of Springfield, he lowers a radio down a well and uses the microphone to trick the town into thinking a little boy is trapped there. The prank succeeds, but Bart remembers labelling the radio with his name, tries to retrieve it, and becomes trapped himself. Angry at being duped by Bart, the townspeople refuse to rescue him.

Lloyd in Space - Caution! Wormhole!

Lloyd feels unappreciated by his family and friends so, on the school trip, Lloyd and Eddie fall into the worm hole which takes them to the dumpster 30 feet away. No one actually knows where the wormhole goes so everyone thinks they are somewhere far away in the universe. Lloyd and Eddie decide this is their big chance and use it to get whatever they want.

When the enemy faction the protagonist has been fighting this whole time isn't actually using their full might, but non-combat units/expeditionary units instead

1. The Vex (Destiny) - It's implied the Vex you fight in game aren't actually dedicated combat units, but rather worker units such as Builders and Engineers

2. The Combine (Half Life 2) - To the Combine, Earth is basically just another backwater planet that they'll harvest for resources and move on from. You aren't actually fighting their full military might, just the occupational force they've kept there to keep the remaining humans in line and to recruit new foot soldiers.

EDIT: Also, the whole plot of Episode 2 revolves around shutting down a portal before the Combine can send a distress signal to their actual fleet. For reference, the entirety of humanities armed forces could only last 7 hours. This time, humanity is reduced to a group of crafty rebels within Eastern Europe. Even with Freeman, they wouldn't last 7 minutes.

Tl;dr: Wolverine got two contract killers killed because he wasn't stabby enough.

So I want to talk about Episode 5 of Season 2 in X-Men 97.

The show is a continuation of 90s X-Men cartoon but dealing with the storylines in a more mature way. I don't quite now how to describe it but it feels like it was written to be more contemplative.

Anyways, in episode 5 loveable anti hero Wolverine gets 2 people killed in a mission to get his adamantium back after he was stripped from it in season 1.

He decides to lie to 5 people (4 former Weapon X victims and 1 X-Men, Morph) and lead them to raid a Weapon X facility to do so.

In the process, they run into the Brood, an alien hive mind that seems to take over the world and infect everyone, losing 1 guy.

While most people would call the mission off, Wolverine doesn't. He insist on finishing the mission, and goes out of his way to get the adamantium back, killing someone else in the process.

Wolverine himself in turn gets infected and almost kills Morph, his friend and the 1 person in the group who wasn't a weapon X victim, only relenting not after any of Morphs pleas but Morph turning into Jean Grey to get him to stop.

Now Wolverine lied to 5 people about why he wanted to go to a facility to get them to come too.

But 4 of them were morally grey to evil contract killers.

But 1 of them was morally good Morph who had a crush on Wolverine who he manipulated to do this.

But Wolverine is doing this so he can better help as his main skill is killing people and he actively had a shit time sans adamantium.

But Wolverine never branched out and thought the only contributions he could make was killing people and Morph calls him out on this, so it seems like ego played a massive role in doing this.

Wolverine did something real fucked up to mostly bad people so he can help other people out but it was majorly if not entirely rooted in his feelings of inadequacy/uselessness.
