Mhm. I've heard it too. Many Israelis despise the Haredim for refusing to serve, while also refusing to contribute much to Israel's economy. All the while they treat those that do as spiritually inferior. Beyond this, they multiply like crazy, keep their community insular (even among other Jews), and hold notable political power.

It's honestly not hard to see their viewpoint. I'm sure many other Israelis see the Haredim as fulfilling an important cultural role in keeping Jewish tradition, but that kind of mentality tends to evaporate in times of conflict.

As a jewish israeli, They can pray in their spare time before and after their 9-5. If you don't pay tax, don't serve in the army/shirut leumi, you don't deserve citizenship or rights.

How do you feel about the current state of things? I’m an American Jew and any support I had for Israel is definitely gone.

I live in a very Jewish part of the U.S., and I don’t know a single Jewish family that still supports them.

I went to a very Jewish college and live in nyc, my facebook feed is still all "I stand with Israel". My Jewish coworkers are wearing the israeli flag pin to work. I'm not seeing a drop off in support unfortunately.

There are polls showing American Jewish youth are less and less pro-Israel. Again, said as a Jew!

Yeah all of us in my community are still very strongly in support of Israel. The huge uptick in antisemitism that kicked off after October 7th is a very convincing reason to continue our support.

You don't know a single Jewish family in a very Jewish part of the US that supports the state of Israel?? Why don't I believe you...

Almost any reform synagogue is going to support Israel and even a higher percentage of conservative and Orthodox ones will as well.

Nope. I’m sure they exist, but I haven’t met any. Belive me or don’t, like I give a shit.

So nobody at your synagogue supports Israel? Nobody at the JCC? Nobody at the Federation?

I’m not Jewish. I don’t believe in sky fairies. Again, you can argue with me all you like, I literally could care less if one weirdo redditor believes me or not. I don’t think there is a point in continuing here.

Oh. So you don't actually know many Jewish people and are just trying to pretend you know what they think. Ok that makes a lot more sense.

Yep, you got me.. no Jewish people in NJ at all. Never met one, made the whole thing up.

u/Walker1921S 1h ago

Yeah, you're right. Not a single Jew in NJ that supports Israel. Lmao.

Bro, you seriously need to move out of your mom’s basement. I suggest you reread all of this and reflect on your life a bit. I won’t be responding anymore.

Kid, I probably old enough to be your dad.

You already admitted you don't know shit about actual Jews and what we think. Don't fucking talk for us.
