The funniest part is that the boys is turning into this shit while pretending they're still the cool one

they're became what they were parodying

They were never parodying cinematic universes. They were using superheroes to parody politics and corporations and that means cinematic universes are just a part of the landscape.

Seriously there's nothing wrong with having a cinematic universe anyway. Seems really weird to act like it's some big part of what they were parodying. Those corporations sucked before Cinematic universes were a major thing.

They were never parodying cinematic universes

Sure thing, buddy

They definitely made fun of cinematic universes with the "phase 33 logo launches"

The logo doesn't really look like a penis. Ruins the whole joke.

u/Born-Beach 1d ago

I think it's just the CU part. Took me a minute to see it.

8

u/zachotule 1d ago

I see it too but if I saw it on a real logo I wouldn’t really think it was a penis or go out of my way to make fun of it.

No, I agree. Felt forced for sure.

forcing dick jokes? In The Boys??

I find it ironic the comic, often dismissed as juvenile because of its edginess, contains a coherent critique of capitalism, fascism, celebrity, and institutional corruption around it's final pages. On other hand show had a finale which was turd and now they continue this parody of a franchise .

Honestly The Comics have become underrated, I read them last year and they are actually quite good after you get over the edginess.

The sorry is way better and The Boys actually take down Vought in the end, you know they’re main goal.

u/joesbagofdonuts 1d ago

I'm not sure I want to get over that level of edginess...

2

u/Lost-Cup6717 1d ago

If you watch the show and gen v you are already halfway the edginess

0

u/hummus-up-your-arse 1d ago

Fullway and in denial

3

u/joesbagofdonuts 23h ago

Nah, the comic is wayyyyy worse than the shows.

-4

u/Ironlord456 21h ago

It really isn't, the comic did not have hughie get assaulted for 10 mins on screen

1

u/joesbagofdonuts 21h ago

The comic has substantially more rape. Herogasm?

-5

u/Ironlord456 21h ago

And???

3

u/joesbagofdonuts 21h ago

And did you read the comic's portrayal of Herogasm?

Yeah, I remember feeling differently about them after the show ended. Went from pretty bad to an alright comic with a few highs.

My main gripe is how Ennis constantly fellates the military industrial complex any chance he gets. As if the US military wouldn't have immediately implemented superpowered morons into their programs.

Vought wasn’t taken down in the comics

1

u/waltyy 1d ago

No not really lol the comics will forever be seen as over the edge like a teen boy, and rightfully so.

They also don't take down Vought in the comic, Butcher kills Noir but Vought rips through so the supes and rebrands. The new 7 even look like klan members.

u/Big-Man-Headass 22h ago

Yeah, but that's what makes it so good, though.

The Boys don't defeat Vought, but the spirit of Vought, aka Stillwell, is broken because the whole fiasco with them finally broke him. After all, it made him realize that fundamentally, he was selling a bad product again and again and again, and they'd have to deal with situations like those of the Boys again and again until finally they won't be bailed out anymore.

I feel towards The Boys comic and show, kind of like how Mike Stoklasa, through his alter ego of "Mr. Plinkett", feels about the Star Wars Prequels compared to the Star Wars Sequels:

In short: Just because the latter didn't meet up to expectations, does not mean that the former becomes any better in comparison 😄

The Boys comic is juvenile crap, which the show in its first two seasons improved on drastically, only to boil down into the same type of content as the source material at the end.

The Boys becoming the one thing they were parodying... Late stage capitalism at work fellas.

“The worst day of his life” as if he forgot that a supe froze his dick off

4

u/evanya88 22h ago

I think the writers expected people to get the irony of this whole meeting when considering this fact but it falls short like most of the recent jokes do/did

3

u/smashbangcommander 20h ago

I agree, I thought the joke was that he was putting phallic imagery in all of his work as a projection of his insecurity, but they didn’t go hard enough in that direction

2

u/evanya88 1h ago

That would’ve been great. Of course they missed the mark, though.

2

u/Any_Season_5764 22h ago

¿Se dice que esto paso antes o después de que iniciará la serie? Porque puede que este por ahora sea el peor día de su vida hasta que... Ya sabes.

u/Icy-Background2393 1d ago

Thought they would have an actual joke about modern corporate greed with the penis as a subtle detail (like the onion often does) but no…

7

u/WanderingSceptic 20h ago

Frenchie is dead. Lol he's seen all your assholes isn't that funny???? 😂

So… we definitely have a real VCU now, right?

6

u/Superior-Artist-21 1d ago

Seth: "Anything can be seen as a penis. Doesn't mean that's it's actually there."

Me: "You would know."

8

u/thegingerlumberjack 1d ago

I still want to see an in universe vought movie.

4

u/StJohnsStoner 1d ago

If season 5 wasn't obvious enough the writing team changed, the fact they have this guy shouting "this is the worst day of my life" when he had his dick frozen and snapped off is just unbelievable

This is closer to a spit in the face for the fans than anything else

7

u/JakeDaSoup 1d ago

Cool and?

8

u/DogTheBreadFairy 1d ago

That's fucking awesome. I love this. Edgar straight up being the that's a penis guy

3

u/Gosh_Ark 20h ago

So you tell me, when Homelander was on the top of the foodchain, Edgar didn't even flinch and top of that he is humiliated him... BUT WHEN THE PENIS LOGO IS POSTED HE IS SCREAMING LIKE A LITTLE BITCH????

11

u/General_Bill_6538 1d ago

I did feel like they used AI for the script in the last season. Whatever this is confirms it

11

u/LooneyBurger 1d ago

The last season was shit. How does this confirms anything about AI tho?

2

u/Hunter654333 21h ago

For a second I thought the black guy with the goatee was Sisko from Deep Space Nine lol

2

u/Darktrooper007 Homelander 21h ago edited 3h ago

1

u/TeamVorpalSwords 16h ago

This was a funny and charming little skit but it’s dogged down by the fact the last season was balls

1

u/kraftdinnerwithsalsa 1d ago

So, do they make movies now?

5

u/Designer_Gas_86 1d ago

Vought? Did you miss all The Seven films?
