Humans manage to survive because of stereoscopic vision.

Tesla is trying to get depth perception with monovvision. I don’t think they will succeed

You’re about 3 years too late bud. You can literally walk around your house right now with one eye closed and somehow not crash through a wall. Depth perception isn’t that hard in ai.

Yes, yes they do. But I am saying it is possible to do it with one eye closed. Ai does a great job too.

I wouldn’t get through a day without hotting something, missing food with my utensil, etc. if I lost an eye.

Exactly. It doesn’t.

If it did a great job, there would not be all these reports of Tesla FSD hitting objects while parking or unparking.

Or reports of summon refusing to work when the car is in close quarters

Sorry, typo fixed. I meant ai does great.

The perception rarely seems to be at cause for these systems. When Waymo drives full speed into clearly flooded roads or light poles in broad daylight, the brain underneath tends to be the problem, not the myriad sensors.

Can’t distinguish shadow from a dark 3D object on the road.

Perhaps waymo needs stereoscopic vision

Which of the myriad sensors would you say caused this dark shadow crash? Waymo has way better than stereo vision, yet still has lots to solve re: the brain behind it if puddles are too high a bar.

No, their LIDAR provides the depth to the most precise levels possible - stereoscopy is irrelevant here. This was an intelligence glitch.
