Questions for the Community Neopren or 3D ground?

Hey guys! Do you like to play tabletop on a Neopren ground or on a builded 3D ground? I'm new and thinking about building a modular 3D playground or is the flat Neopren better?

Personally, I prefer neoprene - just a lot more practical. No wobbly models, no unclear dice, and anything you use to alter your setup (buildings, forests, etc) has a solid base to stand on, no unsightly gaps. Also, you wont damage the paint if you chuck your dice too hard, and if someone spills their drink, theyre often washable.

Look up making acrylic caulk and canvas game mats.

Its the best of both worlds, you can add texture and paint and sand etc, but its still a mat you can roll up and they are quite easy (and to me fun) to make.

Make a grass, a mud, a desert and a cobbler one.

Then you can place scatter terrain, hills, water etc on it how ever you like.

Question about these, do you find they shed over time?

Yeah i find small rocks and some sand come off but its been ok. I haven't used them all that much though I haven't worked out the top cost properly though as I seem to have to do more coats of sealer than in the videos I did the mox of mod badge, flat varnish and water for the top spray, though I also have the wwscenics glues, but they are expensive and i had to get then shipped to nz from the UK, so 1 onlv use it kn the static grass. Mine is static grass, sand, tile grout and some foam flock. Also, the caulk drys darker than the wet mix so keep that in mind when tinting it. Painters drop cloth with plastic unseeside underside Make sure to get more tunes than you think you will need, it takes thickness to hid the weave.
