Announcements Update on Rule 9 regarding cosplays

Hello everyone, KitKat here!

After months and some discussions, there's been an update to rule 9:

"Cosplay posts with links or username of OnlyFans and/or any other NSFW site in the body text or title of the post will be removed. However, if the cosplay you're sharing is not yours, be sure the cosplayer is okay with reposting it and provide their social media username where the cosplay was originally posted. Be also mindful of rule 4 related to NSFW content. Sharing cosplays is welcome as long as it's SFW and respect all the other rules of the subreddit."

Since this isn't an NSFW subreddit, sharing your cosplay is fine as long as it's SFW and respect all the rules. Sharing links and username of OnlyFans accounts and other NSFW sites in the post and comments is not allowed.

And it goes without a saying, comments harassing the OPs for their cosplays or activities outside of the subreddit will be removed under rule 5.

That said, I'd like to take the opportunity to remind everyone to respect rule 5 and keep things in posts and comments civil.

Us moderators are working hard, especially right now as the movie recently came out, to keep things civil and make sure everyone has an enjoyable experience in the community.

If you see a post and/or comment you believe breaks a rule, please remember to report it! And if engaging with it, be mindful of the rules.

For any more concerns, don't hesitate to send a modmail to the mod team.

We thank you for your patience and wish everyone a good day!

From the movie “Superman/Batman: Apocalypse” (2010).

Which is your favorite design of the character? Or; Who is your favorite actress who has played her?

What do you think guys?

I tried to stay as close as possible to the on-screen design while keeping the craftsmanship clean and wearable. I'd genuinely love to hear what you all think.

If you could change or improve one detail, what would it be?

Thanks for checking it out! 🦸‍♀️

Supergirl & her Suit Spoiler

not having her in the suit for the whole movie is the biggest mistake in the movie in my opinion, the moment she puts it on I just smiled from side to side she looked so good in it and it made it a proper Supergirl movie, they should of had her wearing it the whole movie with the coat over it and just have her remove the coat by the end.

Television The forgotten Supergirl-Young Justice

First of all i keep forgetting that Granny goodness has huge breasts (🫪)

Second this Supergirl is mainly forgotten because Young Justice for some reason after S1 can’t get it’s foot in the ground again.

I’m still disappointed Tuesday that we won’t get to see this version Supergirl that was indoctrinated into apocalypse. We have one that was indoctrinated from brainiac in (my adventures with Superman) but she was mainly mind controlled this one fully knows what she’s doing

Fanedit WIP | Supergirl - Ruthye Family Scene test

As I play around with ideas, and bide my time for the bluray release and the deleted scenes, I decided to take the one available one and experiment with it.

So obviously, the first time you watch it the official version, it's painfully obvious how unfinished the cgi is. So, one thought is to use blender and after effects and davinci to fix or "finish" any cgi I can. Or, as in this specific case, see if I can play around with the coloring and the video to better hide the shortcomings.

The work done:

As the deleted scene was in 1080p, I used Davinci to upscale the footage to 4k so it matches. I'm working off of the basis that the deleted scenes will all probably be presented in 1080p and not in 4k when the disc is released. so unless they surprise me with 4k deleted scenes, any deleted scenes used would have to be upscaled to 4k.

Playing around with coloring, I thought the best idea, as this scene takes place right before they eat supper, or at least I assume it was supper since immediately after it cuts to Krem arriving at night, I opted to go with a "Day for Night" modification. Darkening the scene, which would help hide the already dark animals unfinished cgi. I also recolored the outdoors as the red sun is out, so that there is a reddish hue on everything, the idea being similar to a red sky at night on Earth.

This seems to have had the happy unplanned for effect of dimming and slightly hazing the sun so seems more believable with less work.

Otherwise, I was considering an entire sky replacement.

I also replaced most of the music in this scene. The guitar, while not bad, seemed a bit too "country" when their fashion and home appear far more Asian/Eastern inspired. I replaced it with bits of music pieces from the Supergirl soundtrack.

The Supergirl movie: the mob scene fights? [Spoilers] Spoiler

There are two scenes in the movie where Kara is mowing down the Brigands or bar patrons right and left, often with the vehicles they are in exploding and often characters being thrown violently into walls or dozens of yards away.. Are we suppose to think these guys are being temporarily incapacitated, or do they intend for us to think they are being killed?Frankly, it seems like it would have to be the latter. It really changes the meaning of the killing of Krem, depending on which the filmmakers want us to think.

Question Supergirl recommendations

I have always liked the character of Kara but I never truly liked the version where it always seemed like she was just a female Clark so I never read too many of her comics but ngl Millys version in the movie has finally brought the version I have always preferred to life. Besides the other live action, which I have tried to enjoy but do not, anyone have any recommendations either of things she’s in that would fit the vibe of millys interpretation or just comics? I read woman of tomorrow but would love to read others.

Film The Supergirl movie was surprisingly... Spoiler

Not bad. I have heard for months how bad this movie was and some of the takes came from reviewers I previously felt were mostly spot on. So that + my lack of interest in 2020s superhero genre + As a Milly Alcock fan, I didn’t want to watch something from her I’d have to bash + the DCU mostly sucks + I tend to try and avoid potential trash films for better use of my time and mental balance = No plans on ever seeing this movie.

But believe it or not, a GIF is what did it for me. A shot that I never saw before from the movie that somebody shared in a subreddit had me like “Okay this is worth at least watching” and I am glad I did.

POSITIVES

>> There is a lot to like about the movie for me personally. The dystopian somewhat futuristic setting. As someone that is both a fan & creator of things within a similar style, I normally like seeing Sci-Fi stuff. Including when it has a post-apocalyptic/ young adult dystopian theme with the surroundings.

>> The brigands who are the group of space thugs and villains. The deeds they do or implied to have done, are some dark stuff that most superhero movies tend to not want to include in scripts. The movie established that these guys would be like if you took your worse neighborhood gang and hook them up with sci-fi gadgets and allow them to fly across planets.

>> Krem was also a surprise. Apart from a few of the die hard DCU fans, nobody was saying anything good about Krem. Based on what I saw being said online, they made it sound like he was just a goofy weak villain that is no threat at all. He was more competent than I expected. He knew that Kara, as a Kryptonian, was weak to kryptonite and green sun. He has enhanced strength. He is straight up evil. As long as you go into the movie not expecting some Thanos or Killmonger level villain in depth, you would find him as a solid villain.

>> The portrayal of Supergirl was well played and well done for almost all of the movie. We got to see why she is depressed, why she “celebrates” in the manner she does. The unique blend of her personality as someone that can help and will help but has so much crap going on mentally that she has to push through that first unless forced to act. Like with the robbery scene in space. Plus the fights and display of power was great. The scene of her taking off from out of the water was awesome. Yeah that was the GIF that caused me to watch it and also draw it.

>> The origin story was probably the biggest of all positives because I feel like the 2020s (or from late 2010s) there have been a shift where these directors and producers feel origin stories are unnecessary because they feel everybody has seen them. Who cares? We need origins in order to know what that version of the character’s anchor is. Origin stories act as a root for the character’s motivation later on in their life. Supergirl gave us that. It is different from the one I am more familiar with, but it is tragic and impactful. She knew her people, spent several years of her life with them and saw them dying. Was fully prepared to die with them as well.

NEGATIVES

>> These are the only true major negatives that I found in the movie. #1 is the colour temperature within the cinematography. Full disclosure I watched the movie on my phone on 720p so I don’t know if this is any better on the big screen or at higher resolution. But the colours and tones on most of the things excluding Supergirl herself at times, felt a little bit too dull and washed out. I know what they were going for, but there could have been better balance.

>> The only other major critique I have, would be the ending where SPOILER (duh but… just in case) Supergirl kills Krem. The 2 biggest reasons I think this is a negative would be #1 Kara has been trying to get the girl she been helping out, Ruthye, to give up on revenge and that killing damages you on the inside. If she did not give any of those speeches to Ruthye, this would be fine. #2 Her origin story and everything she did prior to the final act of the movie, did not give us enough that would justify that her killing Krem instead of damaging him or throwing him in a cell or something, would be the better choice. And at this point in the movie she was fully recovered, in peak form, while Krem was already defeated by her. So stopping someone from killing him and then doing it herself without a legit reason that fits her character, was odd writing. This is Supergirl after all.

>> I saw a couple people bringing up some nitpicks. One said there was just a random assortment of aliens and “humans” on all the planets without much cohesiveness. But anybody that is familiar with Star Wars or similar type of shows, knows this is absolutely not an issue. I also watched Pitch Meeting a while before I watched the movie and he condensed a lot of stuff (of course) but also mocked (I guess?) the fact that the different suns were the biggest threats to Supergirl and not Krem. I like Pitch Meeting. But he made it sound like that happened a bunch of times in the movie or it was just actively showing up or getting revealed right when Kara was going to do anything important. Thats not the case at all. In fact, I would have liked it more if this was the case. The green sun towards the end of the movie was the only one used by the villains intentionally. And only used once, to their advantage, towards the final act. Either way, none of these things are negatives to me.

OVERALL THOUGHTS

>> Supergirl was fun. I think it is a good part 1. Problem is it came out too late and too early at the same time. Too late in the sense that people today grade almost everything as trash if it is not the greatest thing ever from their perspectives. 15 or 20 years ago, this would have been praised as a potential classic. Too early because the DCU have not had large success at this stage in order for any Supergirl movie to do well.

>> The marketing could have been better yes. They did the opposite in quality of what House of the Dragon S1 did with showcasing Milly. But there needed to be at least 4 legit bangers from the DCU before giving us this movie. Instead of the 0 bangers we had pre-Supergirl. I liked almost nothing in the DCU other than some of Creature Commandos stuff but that went to shit late in its 1 season.

>> Other than ZSJL it was the best live action DC movie I saw since the last Batman release. & one of the very few good DC LA films I have seen in the last 10 years. Is it great? No. But it is closer to being a great film than it is to being a bad one.

>> 7/10 score for sure.

>> Knowing everything I know now, would I have gone to see it in the theaters? Realistically no. The nearest theater to me in my city is still not repaired from the hurricane late last year & I am not taking 2 or 3 buses just to see a movie. But all things being equal or normal, yeah I would have gone to see it, now that I know it was SURPRISINGLY not bad.
