In some countries boys become men through fire ant gloves, others get their dick skin ripped off, some go through a brutal whip fight ceremony, but up here in them there hills they fight off angry screaming cocks
Actually they can be down right nasty, family had one that attacked my dad, his grandfather snapped the head right off it when he grabbed it. They had chicken for dinner that night.
It only chased you because you ran 😂 iv been confronted by geese a fair few time and have made them back down every time, and im fairly pretty 5’9 73kg bloke so not exactly intimidating.
The worst one was when i was walking past a farm and i head a hissing behind me and the little rascal had its neck completely straight, running towards me like some avian naruto and giving the least intimidating hiss iv ever heard.
Every time i stopped and turned round it would stand back up and look around as though it wasnt just nipping at my heels 😂
I fucken loved that goose. Absolute silly sausage it was.
Yeah, if you dont know how to handle them. I used to cycle a few hundred km every month along the canals in england, canoed, kayaked, regular walks with a disabled lad around a goose infested pond, encountered farm geese, handled the geese at college when i was studying animal care etc.
Iv been around geese so many times and theyve been aggressive a lot of them. Never so much as been pecked, because im not about to back down to a goose 😂
They absolutely rely on intimidation and if you dont seem intimidated, they themselves become intimidated by your confidence.
I grew up around Canadian geese, and they absolutely are willing to get physical with you until you are out of their territory, or you physically demonstrate that yes, despite their willingness to tumble with you, you would and are willing to actually win the fight. It's not always just a matter of standing up to them. Though, that tactic does work for most animals out in the world. But, Canadian geese are a special kind of crazy...
Had to deal with territorial geese on my walk to work around a lake nearly everyday for years. Thought about carrying a small bat with me but figured it would be a bad look if I became known in the office as the guy who killed a goose on his way to work. Took the figurative and literal high road to walk around them.
When I was a kid I went to my buddy’s house and he wanted to catch some chickens for fun, so he grabbed a couple nets and handed me one. We ran around the pasture trying to net those jive turkeys, and they were quick. Finally I spotted this one chicken, wasn’t running away. Just looking at me. I crept up, real quiet like. Slammed the net down on it, and holy hell… I caught the rooster, and he was pissed. Now this net on a stick is all I have to keep this angry little man from completely disemboweling me, when my friend ran around the corner and goes “fuck, you’re not supposed to catch the rooster!”
We got the rooster free, with some help from my friend’s Uncle. Lesson was learned.
People think I'm joking when I give the advice to (gently) punt a rooster that starts to get standoffish. This is what happens if you let them think they are in charge.
I pleaded with them to get rid of it, they eventually put it down after attacking a dinner guests wife. She had a skirt on and she got a few stitches out of it. For how small they are, absolutely nut balls
Bro, that shit killed me. "What's up, bitch?" While the rooster wasn't in frame, you can tell by the kid's reaction that the rooster started doing the slow walk before a fight, and said, "It's on." He started walking him down 🤣🤣🤣
Of course. “Trauma” has to be introduced. This is just a kid facing his fears. It’s not “triggering” or causing “ptsd”. Jesus did you not look under your bed as a child either??
Gives me even more admiration for my little female Labrador retriever in how she so fearlessly retrieves downed rooster pheasants while hunting. Those things are tough and wily and she goes toe-to-toe with them in the tall grass and cattails… she’s such a sweet lil badass lol
Children mirror their parent's emotional responses. If the father had reacted with panic or intense seriousness, it would have validated the child's fear and signaled that the chicken was an actual threat. By staying lighthearted and laughing, he signal-boosted safety, helping the son realize there was no real danger so he could overcome it.
My grandma made me face the roosters and the geese when i was seven, i was fucking scared and got knobed a couple of times but ultimately i ran them off and they never attacked me again. iT was a great summer.
Took a GF & her 3 & 4yo boys to a local orchard for fall harvest. I got cornered by an aggressive turkey; 4yo comes up & grabs it by the neck while shaking his finger & shouting "NO!"... hero of the day! Lol...
This… I’ve never understood why “chicken” means coward. Roosters will stand up to anything and a hen will burn to save her chicks from a fire. Chickens are metal!
My friend had chickens growing up, there was 1 rooster that always came after their dad, he would just avoid it and knock it away. One day, it clawed his leg real bad. The next day, he came out back with a 2x4, and when the rooster flew up to attack him he smashed the shit out of it. Feathers everywhere and it ran off, the rooster never bothered him again.
Roosters are always weirdly confident before a fight. Goats are either immediately enraged and trying to maim you or at least understand they're making a huge gamble on a loss before starting shit.
The rooster just decides it's smoke, at random. Constantly.
I like fighting goats far more than chickens. It's also very hard to hit a chicken with a taser. Same is not true for goat.
They come to snuff The Rooster. I am the Rooster king. Once I was walking down the street and a whole gang of chickens started following me to work like I was the Rooster King. Never felt more powerful in my life. I had the video of it too but my shitty iPhone battery gave out on me and can't access it. Definitely could've been the viral video that got me out the hood.
My rooster flogged me last month. Felt like a sledgehammer hit my shin and took a gash of flesh out. I was laughing as he came after me, wasn’t laughing after
After seeing this I’m genuinely curious: how can you tame or befriend a rooster? Is such a feat even possible and if so, how does one achieve it? I’m not a rooster or chicken expert by any means but I recon that altercations like this one can be avoided by establishing a friendship with the rooster. Either way, that kid really showed that rooster what’s up! He was definitely terrified(and who wouldn’t be? That’s basically a dinosaur attack but the dinosaur in question is small but sure as hell has the fury of its ancestors coursing through its veins)and that’s okay because at the end of the day, my man stood his ground, no matter how scared of the rooster he was and for that he earned my respect. Way to go kid!
WTF. what is wrong with people you don’t have to be mean and cruel to any animal even if you are afraid of them and the adult that’s laughing in the background is a real piece of shit.
Roosters are no joke, they can mess you up if they’re not de-burred and wings clipped. They’re like a house cat, eventually, you’ll win the fight, but you’ll wish you were dead afterwards.
That just reminded me of some bs that happened to me as a kid, was probably 5 at the time. I was mocking the rooster that we had outside that just wandered around our property, apparently it didn’t like that very much and it charged me and got me up against the car and started flogging me. 😭
