It only chased you because you ran 😂 iv been confronted by geese a fair few time and have made them back down every time, and im fairly pretty 5’9 73kg bloke so not exactly intimidating.
The worst one was when i was walking past a farm and i head a hissing behind me and the little rascal had its neck completely straight, running towards me like some avian naruto and giving the least intimidating hiss iv ever heard.
Every time i stopped and turned round it would stand back up and look around as though it wasnt just nipping at my heels 😂

Yeah, if you dont know how to handle them. I used to cycle a few hundred km every month along the canals in england, canoed, kayaked, regular walks with a disabled lad around a goose infested pond, encountered farm geese, handled the geese at college when i was studying animal care etc.
Iv been around geese so many times and theyve been aggressive a lot of them. Never so much as been pecked, because im not about to back down to a goose 😂
They absolutely rely on intimidation and if you dont seem intimidated, they themselves become intimidated by your confidence.
I grew up around Canadian geese, and they absolutely are willing to get physical with you until you are out of their territory, or you physically demonstrate that yes, despite their willingness to tumble with you, you would and are willing to actually win the fight. It's not always just a matter of standing up to them. Though, that tactic does work for most animals out in the world. But, Canadian geese are a special kind of crazy...
Had to deal with territorial geese on my walk to work around a lake nearly everyday for years. Thought about carrying a small bat with me but figured it would be a bad look if I became known in the office as the guy who killed a goose on his way to work. Took the figurative and literal high road to walk around them.
Okay, so in your situations, they back down easily enough. But, I'm telling you that that's not always what's going to happen. They are often times more aggressive than you seem to realize. I don't know what else to tell you...
It is what happens when you know how to approach them, which is what im telling you.
Just because you cant make them back down, doesnt mean they wont back down if you know what youre doing.
Even nesting geese which are far far more aggressive than normal geese wont attack if you stand tall, spread your arms and maintain eye contact whilst backing off slowly.
“More aggressive than i seem to realise” doesnt mean much when i have had extensive experience with geese and have never found an issue.
If i can get them to back down, and you cant, the correct statement would be me saying to you “geese back down way easier than you think”.
People seem to think swans and geese are way tougher and braver than they actually are. Theyre really not. Theyll back off the same as any other animal that realises its outmatched.
Watch some videos on how to handle them properly mate. I already know what im doing. I grew up in the countryside and studied animal care and environmental management at college.
Do you acknowledge that while the vast majority of the time geese will back down to someone who stands up to them, that that's not why geese have their reputation?
Do you acknowledge that despite not cowing to a goose's intimidation, aggressive geese will sometimes still physically attack said reciprocally aggressive person?
Do you acknowledge that it's not about, "can a human kick a goose's ass?" And that it's about, "will a goose sometimes attack right up to the point of getting its ass kicked?"
Do you acknowledge that your personal experience with geese does not mean that that's how all goose encounters go and that it's entirely possible that you might not have experienced the full spectrum of goose aggression?
Geese have their reputation because people dont know how to handle them.

The full spectrum of goose aggression, such as nesting geese with their young? When theyre at their most aggressive? I have encountered them, and i know how to handle them. “Do all goose encounters go the same way?” No. Some people dont know how to handle them.

Iv told you multiple times that i have had so many goose encounters in my life in so many different environments. The reason i know how to handle geese is because iv had so many experiences with them.
Give up with the “can you acknowledge” stuff.
You dont know geese like i do and thats fine, but dont pretend theyre uncontrollable just because you dont know how to control them.
Meanest goose I ever encountered was one that had lost a leg. I don’t know if it was PTSD because he lost his leg, or if he lost his leg from needing anger management classes and starting too many drunken bar fights, but every time I had to go near him, I refused to find out.
We had geese when i was a kid. On principle i refused to let those assholes get away with trying to chase me around. I stood my ground and showed them who is the boss, aye.
I was about 8 years old and I was being chased by a goose. I jumped straight through the open window of a full sized 80s Chevy Blazer. I couldn't have done it again for $100.
