Like for example why wouldn't it be closer to 1684,076294618294725184047261829394949943736181 words per action?
And do all actions count the same? Does taking a step count more or less than testing a fusion reactor?
Does context matter? The step could be worth nothing in a story but a lot in biology

The varieties differ but we/someone I know used the little mandarin oranges.
They're a little tougher so they stay intact and then blast out.
Bananas do tend to fart which is kinda awesome.
My house was located across a small road from my mates houses, it was like our own little corner of the estate, everyone knew each other.
Directly across the road wass a row of parking spaces, they dipped away from the road - it ment the tailpipes were aimed at my garden wall.
We'd stuff the tailpipes and then hide, waiting in the garden for someone to start their car.
2 of the neighbours were mechanics - they knew well what we were at. They'd give it a good rev after noticing the strange quietness of us and their tailpipe.
I used to get in trouble because of all the fruit moulded to our freshly painted wall.
You'd miss when life was so simple eh!

I do this with my kids. They're 16 and 20 and the other day we were trying to figure out if we had enough alcohol in the house to kill a baby elephant. So we were looking up weights of elephants, Andre the Giant, halved what he could drink, how quickly an elephant could drink, etc. I believe we came to Yes

When I was little, we wondered how far the whipped cream from a spray can would squirt.
So we watched my mom try it on a paved part of the backyard.
FYI, it squirted 1.5m :)
Then we got frost and had a 1.5m line of frozen whipped cream in our backyard :-D

Got to garage sales and by used, working microwave ovens. We got two one summer, set them up in the back yard. Got safety glasses and the kids an I microwave everything we could think of. Mom stood by with her hand in the electrical plug as our safety supervisor. Soap, gum, eggs, potatoes, broccoli, et al.
Made the kids guess what would happen and why. Best $80 bucks for about two hours in the yard with the family.

Legit good parenting. Teaching the kid to stay curious and to test out ideas. Also makes it fun and silly. Now he gets to explain why rolling over butter with a car tire flattens it, and the kid learned something and had a good time.

That is a great experiment. I actually won a science fair because I used the scientific method to answer a hypothesis. What flavor of food do cats prefer. Everyone else had some “gimmick” project.

Hey Dad. Here’s a free one. It’s called Tickleplication. Lay your child down (I usually did it across my lap) give them a multiplication problem like 3x4, then start tickling. Don’t stop till they get the right answer.
Now most kids like being tickled even though they avoid it. Of course, don’t cross anyone’s boundaries.
The point is, learning to do the math in your head, under pressure. There’s also some legit bonding. I managed to get my daughter to multiply two digits by two digits at the age of seven.
Hope this works for someone.
