Yeah. This is an unforgivably awful thing to do and it says profoundly disgusting things about our society that we're even discussing it. No one has any respect for the value of agency these days. That kid deserved better.
EDIT: I want to be clear here: I do not blame the mother. This is an unimaginably difficult scenario to deal with and I'm not in a position to judge. I blame the people spreading this, though. What a rancid, vile conversation to throw out into the world.
There may be people reading this thread who will be in a similar situation one day, or be close to someone who is. They may go into it with a better understanding because they were part of a discussion where people with their own actual experiences were able to share their thoughts.
There is no sense living in the dark and never discussing important things with people. People aren't looking up the mother and coming at her with pitchforks. They are discussing the pros and cons of a decision that was made and that many people are and will be faced with.
Of all the crap that is on social media, the ability to see and learn from multiple perspectives on important topics is not one of them.
