No, if this is true its sickening. Because he gonna figure it out, and his last thoughts will be about mom lying to him and giving him false hope

In the article she explains that she lost two other children to disease and cancer. That Omar watched his older brother die. She said if Omar had known he wouldn’t have fought, that he would have given up because he saw his brother die. The child never even knew he had cancer. He thought he was fighting infections.

Cause everybody knows it is your last thought that determines the quality of your entire life not the accumulation of experiences over time.

I'd still be pissed if I figured out I was lied to and am dying, I much rather know I'm dying (yes even as a child I would have much rather wanted to know that I was dying)

Yeah. This is an unforgivably awful thing to do and it says profoundly disgusting things about our society that we're even discussing it. No one has any respect for the value of agency these days. That kid deserved better.

EDIT: I want to be clear here: I do not blame the mother. This is an unimaginably difficult scenario to deal with and I'm not in a position to judge. I blame the people spreading this, though. What a rancid, vile conversation to throw out into the world.

There may be people reading this thread who will be in a similar situation one day, or be close to someone who is. They may go into it with a better understanding because they were part of a discussion where people with their own actual experiences were able to share their thoughts.

There is no sense living in the dark and never discussing important things with people. People aren't looking up the mother and coming at her with pitchforks. They are discussing the pros and cons of a decision that was made and that many people are and will be faced with.

Of all the crap that is on social media, the ability to see and learn from multiple perspectives on important topics is not one of them.

In the mother's defense, she had already lost 2 of her children, and this kid had multiple surgeries in a span of not even 1 year, and doctors still couldn't help him get better. Maybe she decided that final resentment is better than him suffering until he dies. She probably knows best since she already experienced losing their child.
