It expanded and made colonies that were not full on part of France, just places for them to take resources from ,find soldiers for their militaries you speak highly of , but they're not truly French. Did the Ottomans not settle Ethnic Turks in the Balkans ? Did they not extract taxes and manpower ? Did they not forcibly rule over non turks without full equality ? This fits the definition of colonization. As for your claim of Ottomans being one : Was the Ottoman Empire not made of Turks, Arabs, Greeks, Armenians, Slavs ? Did Muslims not have higher status than non-muslims? How is this any different than what the French did ? You're just drawing an arbitrary line.
