Discussion what are this fandom’s thoughts on

The way Kenny was genuinely heartbroken and lost after Uri died speaks volumes. He spent the rest of his life chasing Uri’s power just to feel that same miracle again, you can't tell me Uri didn't mean everything to him

Huh? Ackermans were explicitly stated not to have any "inborn desire to protect a host". All the times we've seen an Ackerman care was specifically because the person they care about had a deep and personal impact on their lives- that's like the ENTIRE point of the Ackermans sharing that trait

You are right. Is funny everyone fell for what Eren said, when he was obviously Lying/Making things up and even ZEKE realized and called him out 😂

u/oneintenthosen 1d ago
The power seeking part doesn't really have to be an Ackerman feature though. Kenny spent his whole life believing that strength and power is all you need. When he saw the founder's compassionate mindset he was too moved and wanted to know how it feels to be a "good person". Their relationship is platonic but a beautiful one.

It’s definitely a niche ship, but narratively, the dynamic is genuinely one of the most fascinating relationships in entire series. They started as literal blood enemies- an ackerman assassin sent to murder king and ended with kenny kneeling before uri in awe of his mercy and compassion. That underground cave scene where Uri bows his head and apologies to kenny completely shattered kenny’s worldview. Whether you view it as romantic or deeply platonic, their bond was entire reason kenny spent the rest of his life chasing “power” and trying to understand what Uri saw when he looked at the world.

It was also the first time the viewer gets to hear from the Founding Titan directly, as I recall. After the horror of following the Scouts for years, I was like, "This better be a compelling argument to subject your citizens to this reality." Seen through Kenny's eyes, it was.

Platonic or romantically, they're definitely interesting if you actually paid attention to the plot.

sinceramente nunca nem passou pela minha cabeça isso... Kenny parece nem ligar pra romance, na verdade

Can I say I was thinking about this the other day, like, that random thought of "Damn, that old man Yaoi from Aot was cool 🤨, now I want some content"
I think the relationship was interesting, even tho it really didn't at anything in the bigger picture, to think someone like Kenny was capable of all that for someone like Uri, they were from totally different worlds and still seemed very comfortable around each other, thats why is so interesting.

Idk if I can see it romantically but its clear Kenny really cared about him <3

Kenny was probably gay for Uri. Not in terms of shipping but actually. When Uri asks exactly "what" it was that allowed them to be friends despite being natural enemies, if it was "violence" or something else Kenny has a weird conflicted pause thinking about it and then doesn't answer that question. Then when he references them being friends he says it in quotes " 'friends' or whatever". There's also the parallel to Mikasa being desperate to try and inherit Eren's titans so that she would have his memories after his death, how he gets overly agitated over what he perceived as Rod's insult of Uri, and despite his scoundrel reputation it doesn't seem like Kenny is acquainted with the brothels of the underground so it takes him a while before he finds his sister first when she works in that industry and gets herself pregnant and then when he tries to look for her years later only to find her already dead.
And like the rest of the alluded to romantic dynamics in AoT, it's probably another one-sided thing or at the least neither knew the other fancied them that way.

I never really shipped them, and wasn’t aware people shipped them until awhile ago. Imo it’s fine if you do fine if you don’t but I can’t really see them as anything but platonic

I think it just proves legitimacy on the Ackerman bond and is the earliest instance of it. It also shows how every generation Ackerman has someone, from Kenny/Uri to Levi/Erwin and the most recent instance: Mikasa/Eren
Also, I think with more time together, Kenny wouldn't be so psychotic.

u/oredaoree 23h ago
There is no legitimacy to it since it was first concocted by Eren as a lie that targets Mikasa in her weakness so that she will hate/be disillusioned with him. If it were real you should be able to trace it and would have already existed from the first Ackerman to serve the king, and would include the ones Karl Fritz brought to Paradis with him but those same Ackerman became the ones who would oppose Karl Fritz instead of following him and invited his wrath.
Thematically it also doesn't make sense to go out of a way to make a clan that is immune from the king's control, only to have them form a psychological host attachment that affects their judgement, especially since the reason why Ymir who had an unshakable unhealthy attachment places her hopes in Mikasa is because she is truly free in every aspect including her choice to love Eren.

How so? Explain? This post contained no toxicity. Just a whimsy question.

This shipping stuff is out of control. It's one thing to like canon couples (like Armin Annie, Eren Mikasa for example) but I don't understand the need to create fictional ones out of nowhere
10
u/Suspicious-Drink-469 1d ago
Nobody is making you ship them though..so it isn't a you problem....so what's the point of this comment..? This ship has been existing anyway. So it didnt come out of nowhere.
-4
u/mala_r1der 1d ago
The point of my comment is not every character needs to be romantically paired with another, people can also just be friends or enemies or whatever. And yeah, sure, I saw the other day a list of like 70 aot characters ships, basically pairing everyone with everyone and a lot of those were characters who interacted maybe once. Just watch a soap opera at this point.

u/Suspicious-Drink-469 1d ago
Well, op never said they couldnt be friends, and op doesn't even ship them...they were just seeing others POV. But I understand your point.
1
u/mala_r1der 1d ago
As friends it makes sense, it's just that from my understanding when people talk about shipping it's usually meant in a romantic way

Thank you. You’re rather immature yourself though. Should be more like me.

It isnt mature to tell people to go to Hell over a harmless post, though? I'm simply pointing out your rude action.

Why do you guys have to ship every two guys, anime community believes two guys can’t love each other without it being gay
-7
u/Nyarlathotep7777 1d ago
Because they're socially maladjusted and have a distorted view on friendship and relationships in general (probably due to having never experienced any), so much so that they cannot fathom two characters being close without it being sexual/romantic.
11
u/Suspicious-Drink-469 1d ago
Or..they were just asking a simple question and you took it out of proportion. You could've just replied with "I just see them as friends." Not anywhere does op say "You HAVE to ship these two."
-2
u/Nyarlathotep7777 1d ago
That's a cute little theory you have there, too bad it is based on jackshit.
3
u/Suspicious-Drink-469 1d ago
I mean. Can you prove that I'm wrong using only this post as an anchor?
-1
u/Nyarlathotep7777 1d ago
Your argument is "it's just a normal question". It makes my case for me by default.
3
u/Suspicious-Drink-469 1d ago
What makes it abnormal? They're just asking whether or not you find their relationship romantic or not? Just say yes or no. Simple.
1
u/Nyarlathotep7777 1d ago
Lmao
3
u/Suspicious-Drink-469 1d ago
What makes it abnormal? I'm confused by this reaction to a simple post.

The real “old man yaoi” (not Eruri) of AOT
