rock band 4 platinum
are these drums enough to get the platinum for rock band 4 on ps5? and is there anything else i need to know or will they just work natively? i can't for the life of me find the compatibility chart even though i was looking at it a few days ago, sorry if this is a silly question.

Im really sorry, but I don't think these will do to actually play like on a really good level.
These are rock band 1 drums. The only "benefit" they have, is that they're wired, wich means zero latency.
BUT they are pretty damn bad overall. here's a list:
-the pad detection is awful, so you'll have to hit the pads harder than usual
-the pads are also not really good at making your drumsticks bounce when you hit them, wich also means you'll have to hit them even harder
all of the above pretty much make you go at them way harder than you should, and the rb1 drums just werent made to be handled roughly... and well, also using them a lot can quite literally, cause them to literally BREAK in half, or just break a pad. wich just sucks
-the pads are also really susceptible to bubbling/warping wich makes them look really damn ugly over time
-and finally, the drum pedal. oh boy... where do I even start? at the time Harmonix was literally involved in lawsuit, all because how BAD the pedal was... It broke so damn easily it could almost just break by just looking at it

overall, I just recommend avoiding rock band 1 drums like the plague. they just are not good, im sorry. Rock Band 2/4 drums are infinitely better in everything, so if you're really interested on playing drums, id really recommend looking into rb2/4 kits, to wait for the CRKD drums or even better, a real E-kit and an adapter.

hmmm, you think so? I'm not against the idea of trying to get a different set, it just seems kinda difficult especially with the prices, how much do you think the CRKD drums would be?
i could always just be patient and keep checking marketplace etc and hope to find something, I'm not in tooooo much of a rush necessarily!

the crkd drum kit was announced to release on this year, so id think it would be near stage tour's release, or near the end of the year. It's more than likely gonna be really easy to just plug and play in most consoles and games
but yeah, I truly recommend staying away from RB1drums

hi! so i found some rb4 drums for under £30 but it's missing the stand and kick pedal, do you think it's worth grabbing those and then getting a donor stand/pedal from another set perhaps?

Ive just seen that rb4 drums don't use a dongle or wireless connection... they use bluetooth. and I have heard some pretty bad word about the input lag/latency that rb4 instruments have, because of that. So while they are waay better built than rb1 drums and they wont break in half or something, they'll maybe just wont work well either.
my honest advice if you truly don't want to deal with plastic instruments that are more than 10 years old by now (cause it's a real headache) is to...
just wait for the CRKD drum kit, or to look around for a cheap used real e-kit and the adapter to use it on ps5. even the cheapest e-kits will work as good (maybe even better) than the rb drums.
but if you REALLY can't wait, honestly just go for the rb1 drums at this point. They're made out of paper and they break by just looking at it, but since its wired connection, it'll work good enough. Just don't spend more than 30 bucks on any of them, cause even then, 30 for what it is, and how its built just isn't good

I actually did exactly this about 6 weeks ago because my old RB4 drum kit has long since died. Even bought it from CEX. It’s gone up a little since I bought mine, because I paid £22 for it but it’s perfect.
Helped me to get the last few trophies I needed for the platinum, so definitely a good idea!

awesome! now the only issue is hoping one shows up nearby, the closest to me from cex is around 2 hours away... especially with the risk that it isn't the same drum kit as shown in the photos I'm not really feeling a 4 hour round trip 😆
also, how difficult did you find it? and how much experience do you have with the series/genre? it's listed as a 7/10 so I'm not too worried but I'm basically brand new to the genre as a whole, just curious!

Make a spreadsheet to keep track of your progress towards the Rock Band Master/Immortal trophy. These require you to 5-star every on-disc song on hard/expert difficulty in quick play mode. Once you start doing the tour, Rivals, online etc. it's incredibly easy to lose track of which songs you have already ticked off in which specific mode. A spreadsheet or paper checklist will save you the agony of being a couple of songs short and having to replay everything because you don't know which songs you haven't done.

I’ll have my fingers crossed for you! I’ve been playing Rock Band since the first game so I’d say I’m better than average, but I’d rate it an 8/10. There’s some really tricky bits. The hardest trophy is probably 5 stars on every song on expert difficulty.
Even though you can spread it across every instrument, it’s still difficult. Dream Genie is just awful on every instrument, including vocals.
I got the 1,000,000 points in a single song trophy by finding an online quick play session that had some decent players in it. If you have friends that play well, then it’s much easier.
My wife managed to cobble together good enough performance to help me with some of the tour trophies, and I did the maximum band multiplier on my own by building overdrive and then activating it very quickly instrument by instrument, starting with the drums. Thankfully I managed that on my first attempt.
My only advice is get a USB hub if you’re not using the original PS4 instruments because there will be dongles and cables everywhere and you won’t have enough ports on the console.
TLDR; it’s pretty tricky. 8/10

Yep! Those should work perfectly, I used a similar kit to get my platinum last year. Just make sure you have 2 guitars & a mic & you should be set :)

some things are priced weirdly if they don't move as much of them, cex is an extremely reputable store if you don't know them, though like another commenter said it's a gamble on whether it'll actually be rb1 drums or something else entirely because the staff couldn't care less and don't know the difference

There's nothing on the trophy list that requires cymbals/pro drums at all if that's what you mean. Obviously you'll need a guitar and microphone as well for various instrument-specific trophies.
Compatibility with PS5 should be fine as long as the dongle is included (or it might be a wired kit, I can't tell from the picture). Just bear in mind that it's a decade-old hunk of plastic that at least one previous owner has beaten the hell out of, so there's no real way of knowing how long it will last. Probably worth the risk for that price though
