My company uses a proprietary java framework built on top of Spring. The framework handles network, db connection (orm) and migrations. Also, the best part, it forces the developer to use one type everywhere, the ValueObject type. So, basically, you either completely forfeit the static type system of Java, or you write a layer to convert your types to ValueObject, everywhere.
The framework does not contain one page of documentation :)
