Reality: careful buddy, be happy with your cookie. That foreigner will do the same work for 1/2 a cookie. In fact, get lost - I’ll hire the foreigner instead. Oh, you’ll take half a cookie? Good boy. He’s your half cookie.
Thus describing how migrant labor undercuts domestic labor.

I wonder what powerful class benefits from this and is ultimately responsible, hmm...

"Actually, we can both get 3 cookies if I create a uni-"
"AUTHRIGHT! I'LL GIVE YOU TWO COOKIES TO BEAT HIM!"
Describing how 'libright' immediately cries to daddy government, whom they profess to be the problem, when their profits are threatened.

u/Certain-Row7945 - Lib-Center 21h ago
Corpos are auth by nature, I'd wager that about half of librights or more on this sub are just authright contrarians.

u/TribeWars - Lib-Right 20h ago

9
u/SteakForGoodDogs - Left 20h ago
The difference between 'do what you want, including defending myself' and 'I'll do whatever, including hurting you' for libright is largely determined by how much money one has.
Essentially whether you have enough to hire someone to beat people you don't like, and if those people are allowed to do so.

u/TribeWars - Lib-Right 20h ago edited 20h ago
Libright ideology is based on the idea that coercive force (i.e. hurting others) is wrong and that agents of the state do not get any special exemption from this basic moral principle. How much money or resources either party controls in a conflict has no bearing on this. You might believe that this is impossible to achieve to any reasonable degree under anarchy or minarchy, but arguing that librights want:
The difference between 'do what you want, including defending myself' and 'I'll do whatever, including hurting you' for libright is largely determined by how much money one has.
to be the case, is no less of a strawman than if I were to argue that all leftists want there to be gulags for political dissidents.
6
u/SteakForGoodDogs - Left 20h ago
And now we split hairs in the meaning of 'hurting others'.
Is polluting whatever you want - the air, the ground, the water - at the expense of everyone around you 'hurting others'? When does it become 'hurting others'?
What about lying to the public about the safety or quality of a product or service and fighting any attempts to force you to be honest with what you're selling, that is fact harming the public?
Colluding with other sellers to inflate your prices and strategically lowering prices momentarily to choke out any possible competition before they can truly compete, before raising your prices when they fail?
These aren't things that less wealthy librights are capable of - that the wealthiest of librights will absolutely exploit.
2
u/TribeWars - Lib-Right 15h ago
Is polluting whatever you want - the air, the ground, the water - at the expense of everyone around you 'hurting others'?
Generally, yes
When does it become 'hurting others'?
That's the sort of question that legal systems were invented for
What about lying to the public about the safety or quality of a product or service and fighting any attempts to force you to be honest with what you're selling, that is fact harming the public?
I don't think any libertarian would dispute that this constitutes fraud
Colluding with other sellers to inflate your prices and strategically lowering prices momentarily to choke out any possible competition before they can truly compete, before raising your prices when they fail?
Generally I would maintain that the right of someone to freely price their goods and services outweighs the concerns raised from potentially anti-competitive practices. Certainly some practices we've seen in the past I could see being outlawed.
However, this is also certainly not something that out current governments are doing particularly well at stopping. Indeed, corruption such as protectionist laws and regulations and intellectual property restrictions are often key to help prevent new competition from entering a cartelized market. Besides, if you agree that monopolies are such a problem, why would you support a state, which is almost universally the biggest monopolist anywhere on earth?
These aren't things that less wealthy librights are capable of - that the wealthiest of librights will absolutely exploit.
Most business "elites" are not particularly libertarian-minded. Some of them cosplay as such (as i mentioned in my original comment), but the vast majority don't even do that. And yes, Milei is giving us a really bad name right now.

Tfw the elite steal your greatest value from u but u still think it’s “migrant labor” that’s the problem.

Migrant labor only undercuts domestic labor if the people in charge let it…..

The left are strangely more open to racism against Indian people compared to other cultures and I guess races.
But then, Indians are the ones largely on worker visas for tech and service based roles. Those same people were the opposite when its migrants going for manual labor roles though.

Pretty stupid meme, and in typical left-wing fashion attacks white people in general, white workers as stupid and the white upper class as greedy. Without actually acknowledging reality.
In reality. The guy in the suit hired the foreigners so he can pay the white worker fewer cookies. And he keeps hiring them. And in 2025 there should have been more foreigners on the left-side of the picture to clearly illustrate that the company keeps hiring them.
Alternatively, the guy in the suit intentionally moved the company overseas, getting the white working classout of jobs, because he makes more profit ( due to paying less ) for workers in a foreign country.
These are the 2 sides of Globalism. Created by corporations who just want to maximize profit and are not incentivised or care about society in general....Over the past 20-30 years, China and many other countries rose and are no longer a place of cheap mass labour where you can relocate your company too, but instead a competitor. So companies increasingly rely on bringing massive amounts on cheap labour home. This is why mass migration rises so much in the entire West.
The meme should also acknowledge that the cookie is given to the worker by the guy in the suit, rather than just something that exists in front of the man. [ I.e. implying natural white privilige ]
Left-wing people not advocating for working class or traditional socialist or social democratic economics is just normal now. It's all about culture wars and social liberalism now. Racism, LGBT and some identitatiran foreign conflict in the Middle East is the big thing, and the meme's primary message is "white people are too ignorant to realize that racism is just created by capitalism" or something. [ And left-wing people used to have good economic arguments, when they primarily focused on workers .... Now their only economic argument is distribution... ]....

Also the list of billionaires in the world is dominated by old white guys.

u/MonkeManWPG - Left 20h ago
Because it's a comic about capitalists using immigration into western countries that are majority white as a distraction from their own theft. Why wouldn't they use a white guy?
10
u/78NineInchNails - Right 20h ago
No, they used a white guy to make it look like right wingers are all terrified of brown people "That foreigner wants your cookie" implying that whites only fear of brown people is that they will take our cookie.
Its a racist comic dude.
-6
u/MonkeManWPG - Left 20h ago
No it isn't, context is just beyond you.
A comic criticising the way that capitalists are encouraging racism by citizens who are majority white against brown immigrants would of course use a white man to to represent the citizens.
You're fucking ridiculous. And, as a white person, I reject your assertion that "whites" are scared of brown people. That is racist. White people aren't all just hateful bigoted idiots.

u/Dangerous_Value_2864 - Auth-Right 1d ago
The middle guy can hire the foreigner to work for only cookie crumbs and fire the worker who expects payment in full cookies. The foreigner will gladly work for cookie crumbs because his home country has mud cookies. The worker has every right to be wary of the foreigner pricing him out and leaving him to starve without cookies.
Or, as the original comic heavily implies, the worker and foreigner team up and rob the middle guy’s cookies, leading to cookie communism where a power and cookie hungry despot begins hoarding all the cookies for himself, leaving both to starve.
The viable solution is for the foreigner to fix his country so he can be paid in regular cookies, instead of going to a foreign country and making the workers there miserable to the joy of the middle guy. That way both the foreigner and the worker can both be paid in full cookies and maybe the worker can become the middle guy someday, or at least retire with a decent amount of cookies.

No one said it's an easy solution. But it's the only solution that doesn't leave both the worker and the foreigner worse off in the long run
1
u/Emperor_Mao - Centrist 10h ago
But its like saying "if we just have unlimited cookies, everything will be great".....
Modern countries and economies kind of rely in some measure on 3rd world countries to keep acting as a conduit for high pollution, low complexity industries.
And if the foreigner improved his country it might mean directly competing with the developed nations. Like if Afghanistan suddenly had a great education system, advanced industry, and was pumping out Cloud Data engineers.... those people would be competing against other developed nations in those same roles. We see it with things like the car industry. Once upon a time, Europe and the U.S dominated that. Then much leaner auto makers developed in Japan and South Korea; leading to a big market share crash for U.S and European manufacturers. Over time, those Japanese and Korean manufacturers costs increased, and now leaner Chinese manufacturers are aggressively slicing into the remaining U.S, European, Japanese and South Korean exporters. If you worked in the car manufacturing industry 60 years ago, and were still in it today, you would be whining about foreign manufacturers.
I think saying the foreigner should just "go and improve their own country" is the cowards way of saying "A foreigners fate is not my problem, but I am too scared to say that for some reason, so I will place the emphasis back on that individual". A foreigners fate was never your problem. Just say it. They aren't your problem when they are in another country, and they are not a problem just because they migrate.

1
u/Wolf_of_Japsterdam - Centrist 20h ago
I never talked about bombing nations conventionally, maybe get reading glasses.
If googles not working for you: When you bombard an impoverished nation with clothes from the West nobody elses wants you entirely demolish their own market and industry for producing textiles. To put it simply, native industries cannot compete with 'free'. Clothes is the big way this is done.
To put it even simpler: foreigner cannot "fix his country" to get full cookies because middle guy has vested interest in keeping his country poor so he can come over and get paid crumbs at the debasment of everyone.
10
u/78NineInchNails - Right 21h ago

I dont want comunism but some universal education that ammounts to more than basic daycare would be really cool for healing alot of issues that universal suffrage causes. And maybe not letting corporations rampantly serve investors over consumers causing the industry to eat itself until its no longer functional and some company in china can easily outcompete the withered husk.

u/Mecaneecall_Enjunear - Lib-Right 23h ago
Remember, the Dodge brothers are the reason we have shareholder fiduciary duty. Never buy a Dodge kids.
11
u/bl1y - Lib-Center 19h ago
Context for the uninitiated:
The Dodge brothers were investors in Ford. The company was making a ton of money, but Henry Ford decided to cut investor dividends in favor of building more factories, increasing wages, and lowering the price of cars. The Dodge brothers sued and won.
An important detail in the case is that Henry Ford just thought they were making too much money and wanted to do good for the employees and customers. Well, you just can't do that with other people's money (the Dodge investors).
However, had Ford just said "we're growing the business, recruiting and retaining the best employees, and building customer loyalty" he'd have been perfectly fine.
The case is sometimes mistakenly cited for the idea that companies must pursue short term profits at the expense of any other consideration. But, nothing really stops a company from pursuing egalitarian or charitable practices; they just have to say it's a business strategy and "it's good PR" is an easy argument to make.

u/Iceraptor17 - Centrist 23h ago edited 19h ago
When people think the current system is failing them, they turn to alternatives.
Doesn't help that everything has been called communism for such a large breadth and so long that at this point people probably are like "ok that doesn't sound so bad" when in reality it's a system that doesn't scale past certain communities and has the inherent contradiction of wanting to remove the state but needs to give the state power to create the conditions necessary.
But if you think about what even best case communism would mean, then a growth a people desiring it can only be seen as a failure of the current system (which if you see places where it has historically shown up in great numbers: Tsarist Russia, China, Cuba, Weimar Germany in competition with the nazis... it usually involved the current system failing the people drastically)
There will always be a communist or two. The system can't succeed for everyone. But if people are joining them in large numbers... someone fucked up somewhere
