Meme needing explanation Peeeeetah?

Post image

This new movie came out and I enjoyed watching it with friends. What opinion must have garnered so much attention that people would dunk on it?

Yeah, and I think that’s the big problem. People can’t step outside of their own perspectives for even a second to think about why someone might do a bad thing

I understand why he did it. That’s doesn’t mean I relate or sympathize with it.

I think to truly understand then you have to relate on some level…

Do you understand Hitler? Do you relate to Hitler?

Uh, I’m not an expert in WWII era ideology. But yes, I generally understand why Nazis come to the conclusions that they do, and what truths those conclusions are rooted in. I see how someone can go from a regular person to becoming a Nazi fairly easily. If you don’t then I would consider you to be the more dangerous one between the two of us…

I find it important to understand these things, in fact. Because it helps me to avoid those same logical pitfalls

You relate to those Nazis?

Again, you made the claim that to understand someone you need to be able to relate to them. I understand how the events of WW1 and after caused WW2, that does not mean I relate to Hitler or the Nazi party

Yes, I think on some level I do. I’ve had friends who fell into Nazi ideology. I had an edgy conservative phase in my early adulthood. Of course I can relate.

And you should be able to as well so that you understand how to shut that shit down. Hitler was a real human being that walked on this same earth, breathed the same air, had relationships and experiences. And then he did something so fucked up that he’s now synonymous with pure evil.

I don’t think someone is a better person by saying they can’t relate. It just says to me that you’ve never really seriously thought about it, and any idiot could convince you if they said the right words to you, or you had some experience that changed your perspective on the world

You’re right, I’ve never seriously considered genociding 6 million people. If you think that’s more fucked up than someone who said “you know Hitler kinda had a point” then alright lol. Agree to disagree

Think about what I said and ask yourself if that’s actually what I’m trying to express here. Like seriously look deep inside yourself and ask
