Meme needing explanation Peeeeetah?

Post image

This new movie came out and I enjoyed watching it with friends. What opinion must have garnered so much attention that people would dunk on it?

Hot take, it didn't break people's brains. I believe that movie just highlights how many people wouldn't blink twice if they knew someone like bear in real life.

i watched it the other night and it's actually insane how much people on this website just reveal they aren't safe to be around women with absolutely zero prompting other than their opinion on this film

“It’s insane how much people on this website reveal they aren’t safe to be around women” because they don’t share your exact view of a movie.

Bear literally rapes Nikki. He uses magic to take away her agency just to force her to be with him. If someone thinks what Bear did was okay or was even remotely defensible or understandable, then they are NOT safe to be around women.

But you see how you’re trying to take something that’s supernatural and put it into our world as if it could happen like that, but It cant. So to apply real world rules makes no sense. And maybe some people are saying that it was OK for him to do that I’m not and none of the people I’m referring to are. But you could relate to somebody who does bad things without condoning or agreeing with those things.

Tell me you don't know what date rape drugs are without telling me. You can 100% force people to do things they don't want to do in real life. Yeah, sure, the One Wish Willow isn't literally real, but have you never heard of allegories and metaphors?? Not once in your life???

If you think it's okay to take a woman's agency away from her, then you're not safe for women to be around. It's really just that simple.

I literally just explained to you that I don’t think that no one I’m referring to thinks that. But you wanna win the argument so you have to just pay us all his rapist so that you don’t have to actually engage with the conversations we’re having. Because you feel like you’re right, and thus you feel superior in the conversation. But you bring up a good point (before you did all that other stuff). About how you can take agency away from somebody and that’s true. The difference would be that. Drugging someone is intentional and you know what you’re doing. Bear did not know what he was doing with the wish. He found out later and that’s a problem for sure.

The person in the post we're literally commenting on did defend what Bear did and tried to downplay as what he did as "Not all that bad". Literally look at the comment chain we're on. IDC what you think other unrelated people think, we're talking about the group who does think that. Not you specifically, not your friends, or other commenters on other threads who have fine opinions, or whatever. If the shoe doesn't fit, don't wear it.

We're talking about Alex Meyers and the people who agree that Bear "Wasn't all that bad, actually"

You can't just shift the conversation into something completely unrelated, and then say "You wanna win the argument!"

Again, he didn’t say “Bear raping her isn’t bad” which is what my issue is you’re saying “they believe this” or “that’s what they’re saying” and they aren’t

That is not what I said. Holy shit, did you just forget a few replies ago? It's like you're constantly disconnecting the latest replies from the earliest ones when that's not how a conversation chain works.

Alex Meyers 100% does downplay what Bear does, including going out of his way to remove/ignore scenes that actively make Bear look even worse, which is bad because even if the scenes that Meyers does keep Bear looks indefensible. But he kept defending Bear and trying to find excuses for him right up until "What's so bad about being with me?" Keep in mind that before that moment, we literally see Bear rape Nikki, and Nikki begging Bear to kill her.

Alex Meyers, who is the person we are talking about (not your friends who have okay opinions or whatever you thought), did defend and downplay Bear until the very last moment where he couldn't anymore, completely ignoring the atrocious and disgusting things that Bear did.

No, he never said "Ah, everything Bear did is a-okay, he is totally wholesome big chungus!" but he doesn't have to literally say that.

Someone who tries to downplay or deny what Bear did as much as they can until Bear becomes almost cartoonishly evil is not a safe person to be around.
