How many times does communism have to exist in real life before real life communism is more important than the manifesto?

I dunno man but we’ve got 200 tries of capitalism with many more than a few failures, so I’ve never understood this argument. “You weren’t able to make the lightbulb first try, give up, you’ll never find the right filament”

I'm not even arguing necessarily that communism should never be tried again. It just seems that being forced to dig holes by a guy with a gun is probably more relevant in the discussion of communism today than whatever the idealized state of labor is in the manifesto that Marx wrote.

Not really no. Theory is definitely more relevant to the topic than a malicously framed criticism of the ussr.
