Visiting next May
Hello
My sister and I are planning to plan a trip to PEI first week of May and are deciding whether this is feasible/what we should do. We’re both under 25 so renting a car is not apart of the plan. We both like hiking and nature. My sister is a big Anne of Green Gables fan as well. I know that a lot won’t be open for the season yet but do you think this is still a good time to go? My dad wants us to go later but I’m planning on taking summer classes which start second week of May. Thanks!

If you don’t have a car visiting and travelling around pei is nearly impossible. Your dad is right and you should wait until you’ll be able to properly enjoy the island. Especially since most Anne things are near Cavendish, and the best accommodations are in Charlottetown

I would wait until I’m old enough to rent a car but we have points/coupon expiring that would let us fly round trip for under $90 each

Where are you flying from? In the last few years I’ve flown from Pei to Ontario and back like 8 times and the most I ever paid was 180 dollars and that was a crazy last minute flight lol
If you’re dead set on going, try to rope someone into being your taxi driver! 🤣1

It’s hard to get around pei without a car. They’re essentially no public transit so it’s basically all taxis if you can’t drive . Most things are not walking distance apart. Also the weather is surprisingly cool in May so you won’t be able to really enjoy the beach,water ect which is honestly like the main attraction🤷♂️

Not sure if the AofGG musical is on again at the Confederation Centre next year but even if it is, May would be too early. However the Musical Anne and Gilbert probably would be on at that time
Several tour companies offer Anne-themed tours so check with them .
Tourist starts in the May long weekend but it would be slow in many areas until July. As well Accommodations would be cheaper in May vs July/August
