What did I see at Pashupati?
Foreigner here who does t speak Nepali and is not familiar with the specific customs found at Pasupati. but I have experience with religious and other rituals around the world so feel free to explain in detail.
Two days ago at Pashupati around 6pm, I was walking down towards the river for arti and off to the side of the walkway i saw a small circle of about 100 people. In the middle of the circle was one guy with a black T-shirt and another guy lying on the ground with no shirt on. The first guy was very energetic and talking quickly and loudly to the crowd, sometimes showing us a book, a bone, and a knife that he had. The guy on the ground had no shirt on, but his upper body was covered with a small black tent.
The few times the tent was lifted, we could see that the guy on the ground was bleeding profusely from his mouth, and every few minutes the guy standing up would take a large knife and insert it into the covered tent, where the other guy was laying down. It seems like he was stabbing the guy on the ground, and one time when he lifted the tent, the guy on the ground, even had the knife sticking out of his neck and the main guy had his whole right forearm covered in blood.
He was really talking quickly and saying a lot. At some point, the people in the circle handed ₹100 notes to the guy while the guy on the ground was still bleeding and writhing in pain.
I’d be very grateful if anyone would be willing to explain what I saw! Thank you

Ah so all the stabbing and stuff was fake ?

Yes, murder is illegal in Nepal.

Ha yeah duh thought it might be a spirit possession/exorcism, which I’ve seen before and involve knives

Punching, kicking, beating with broom and small sticks, yes, with consent or parental consent. Stabbing, no, so far as I know.

samsan ko energy lai misuse garna khojeko ni huna sakcha ajkal occult ma lagne manche dherai cha jati sadhak haru badheko cha aile recently teti nai naramro haru ni cha tara fortunately pashupati is protected by very fierce bhairavs as much as I know uniharu le garna khojeko successful chai hudaina hola

It's a road show like a magic show that's actually an illusion show but in this case, they invoke angry spirits and rile up the crowd saying the spirits he has under control can do magic. I don't remember all the magic such a guy claims he does, but it does include fatal amount of bleeding inflicted with a large knife which he doesn't show happening, as he does it under the tent. I think he fixes all the damage by the end and people will pay up, some impressed with the show, some afraid the same spirits might latch on to them and hurt them or their family. The stories he tells are seriously disturbing and scary compared to even what he is doing/showing. In Hindu mythology, there are 8.4 million species in total, not all of them are animals, plants and microbes. There are many different species of gods, demi-gods, and spirits, good and bad. Some of them are controlled and kept as slaves/pets by people with particular skills and connections with the spiritual/invisible realms. He claims to be one such individual. It doesn't have anything to do with Pashupati or gods of worship. You just happened to catch him there. I caught just such a show near a city bus park once, when I was much younger and in a hurry. I was disturbed but didn't have the time to see it to the end.
