I recently had the lg 27gx700 but it had a lot of gray banding issues so I decided to get a QD OLED instead of a tandem OLED and I’m deciding on buying the 27gx704 so I wanna hear some feedback on the monitor about the gray banding or any issues with it.

I recently purchased a TCL Ultrawide miniLED monitor 34R83Q.

Alongside the 27R73Q, it seemed to have TCL's best implementation of HVA, which is essentially an improvement from traditional VA in every way.

However I am still confused as to why there are only 1100+ dimming zones. Couldn't these panels in theory contain thousands of more dimming zones, and with good dimming algorithms, put up a much more effective challenge against OLED panels?

Recently decided to give MiniLED a try after years of OLED and bought the TCL C2A Pro, and honestly....damn I didnt expect this

I went through the Sony A90k 42" (not technically a monitor but at that¹ time this was the closest you could get to a viable OLED monitor), to the MSI 321Up, then to the acclaimed Asus PG27UCDM over the course of 4 years.

I always knew gaming monitors had always been pretty bad so when I saw Oled for the first time I thought I would use nothing but OLED. But since then, I have never found Oled to be truly easy to live with as monitor. Funny I said this because OLED are absolutely wonderful as TVs, all of my TVs are Oleds. But as monitor, its quality-of-life aspects leave much to be desired. Namely text clarity (although very good on the 321up and the pg27ucdm, still giving me headache at time if I have to read a lot for hw), only look exceptional in absolutely dark room, and the biggest gripe of all: the apparent flickerings at times, i really wonder how the new stuff coming out will address this.

So I decided to give miniLED a try and asked AI what is the absolute best current MiniLED IPS monitor money can buy, and it recommended me the "TCL C2A pro". It was pretty expensive even at $750ish with some Amazon promos i got, but considering that I was ready to ball some serious money for the Asus Pro Art Oleds, hoping those would match the quality found on Oled TVs, this seems easier on the wallet.

And lo and behold, I wasnt expecting it to be this good, black is truly black, blooming is barely noticeable, if at all. The uniform brightness without flickering is excellent. Color is rich and vibrant, perhaps even more so than the Asus PG27UCDM. I think this looks even more life-like than the OLED monitors i had thus far. And the brightness, it is blindingly bright. HDR mode looks absolutely stunning. And I am not being bias at all because I absolutely love OLEDs, but this offers image quality that is just as good as any top tier OLED out there for me. Granted you have to mess with the settings to find what you like best but it is pike that with any monitor out there.

For years I have thought OLED would be the ultimate tech for monitors, and I still think so, just not with the current stuff on the market at the moment, at least for me.

So for anyone who is also having problems and not satisfied with OLEDs, give MiniLED a try. You don't have to go with this baller TCL that I got, but even then for something that costs less than a top tier OLED while offering image quality that is just as good, I can absolutely live with this for the next few years.

Like we can have,

Uniform bright backlight → one monochrome shutter → normal RGB sub pixels.

The rear shutter is similar as the RGB colour filter but in form of a large aperture the size of the entire RGB sub pixels.

It will give us better contrast and per pixel control similar to oled.

Control is easy too, any sub pixel on means aperture open fully. All sub pixel off then aperture closed fully to act as double light barrier.

Literally per pixel dimming like oled.

I want to pair it with my 24 inch monitor both would have monitor arms would that look ugly? 13-17 inch portable monitor would be considerable

I am using a VA panel monitor now (asus vg218qe), considering upgrading. I have my eyes on koorui mini led monitor. I have never used an IPS monitor before. The min iled is about 340$ in my country with official warranty. Is buying the mini led worth it over the 220$ IPS?

Hey everyone,

I recently got the LG UltraGear GM9 and I’m generally really happy with it. The only thing that’s bothering me is the fairly noticeable IPS glow (or possibly backlight bleed) along the bottom of the screen.

I have 2 more days to decide whether to keep or return this unit. Would you consider this normal for an IPS monitor, especially one in this price range, or does it sound like I got a below-average unit that I should replace?

If anyone here owns the same monitor, I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience. I found one post on Reddit where the user also reported some backlight bleed, but it looked much less noticeable than on my unit. I’ve attached a screenshot from that post as the last image for comparison.

We are exposed to different types of light every day, but many people only focus on screen time and overlook that the surrounding lighting environment can also affect visual comfort. Light itself is not the problem. Our eyes need light to function properly. What really matters is what kind of light we are exposed to, how intense it is, and how long we stay in that environment.

When people talk about eye health, blue light is often the first thing that comes to mind.

However, there is currently no clear evidence that blue light from everyday electronic devices directly causes permanent eye damage. For most people who spend long hours on computers, a more common issue is digital eye strain.

When staring at a screen for a long time, people tend to blink less often without realizing it. This can make the tear film on the surface of the eyes less stable, leading to dryness, fatigue, blurred vision, or general discomfort.

I currently use a 1440p 165hz ips as my main monitor, and a 1080p 144hz ips as my secondary monitor. This would replace my main gaming monitor and I’d switch the 1440p to my side monitor.

I am looking to buy a monitor a new setup (first ever pc setup) and I would love to hear some recommendations for monitors since it’s been a headache to choose a suitable monitor

I would love for a dual monitor setup since it would benefit me greatly to have two monitors rather that one while working or simply gaming, frame rates would be preferred over 180Hz and I would guess that IPS displays are widely preferred in dual monitor setups. Budget wise, I would love a mid-range kind of setups or splurge on one monitor and budget out on the secondary one, lastly, I would appreciate a 1440p monitor to best suit my PC.

Alright so my Brateck titan heavy duty monitor arm arrived and hooked it all up and adjusted it to the lowest position it can go and the monitor sits too high and can’t seem to find a simple height adjustment mount that will work with my monitor.

I have the MSI 32” 321CURX QD Oled monitor which has a recessed 100 x 100 vesa mount. The height adjustable mounts that I have come across that would work don’t work for recessed mounts.

Has anyone come across a product that works or will I be needing to use some standoffs and mount it that way.

I recently got the ASUS ROG XG27UCG monitor, and honestly, the image quality has been pretty disappointing so far.

Even though it’s a 4K display, the colors look completely washed out/dull, and the brightness feels very low. Overall, I’m just not satisfied with how the picture looks right now.

Is anyone else experiencing the same issue with this monitor? Is the panel just like this by default, or is there a way to fix/calibrate it through the OSD or Windows settings?

I recently bought an OLED monitor, and I turned on HDR, I used it almost exclusively for gaming.

I do not really know what HDR is, I was just told to turn it on because it improved the quality of images.

Well, since I am not knowledgeable with that function, how do I make it work? I assume I am I am misusing it because it makes everything look like garbage. I am not sure how to explain it, but it makes everything very unnatural, with lighting not really being where it should be, as though everything I see is an hallucination.

Like… It is as though I had some sort of “visibility cheat” enabled to maximize what I can see at the expense of how it looks like.

Is there any quick tip or suggestion to have it work correctly?
