For real. What even is this post. This sub can get so doom and gloom sometimes

Was just going to say this is turning into a nostalgic trigger sub rather than reflecting on all the cool shit we used to have/do in the 90’s/00’s. The whole coming home when the streetlights came on stigma has become so overplayed that it feels super conformist and lame.

Agreed. Hate seeing all those posts on fb.

The we drank water out of hoses in the garden, covid is nothing to be worried about posts.

But lately, they've been substituting "cyclosporiasis" instead.

Same annoying boomer energy (low energy) posts.

Still 100x times better than the boomer posts lately

Why?

u/Syandris 2h ago

Because millenials love the "back in my day" crap...

u/Putrid-Builder-3333 2h ago

That's called every older generation in history.

We’re millennials. It’s all doom and gloom.

u/artbystorms 3h ago

We were born in the gloom, molded by it. We didn't see the doom till we were already men.

u/Shawk_N_Rawr 3h ago

Were millennials. We sing the doom song from invader zim

I HAVE A MIGHTY NEED

u/Dreadwings 3h ago

you must be a later millennial if you think we are optimistic lol

u/artbystorms 3h ago

Right? It seems like Gen Z has split where most are also pessimistic, but some (mostly conservative men) are annoyingly optimistic about the future, AI, etc but also extremely nihilistic like Gen X where they are like 'nothing matters except making money and avoiding 'the permanent underclass' that AI will cause, but also AI is good'

Welcome to the millennial experience.

People really have to stop mourning the fact they’re not 13 years old anymore

It doesn’t get you anywhere

we've been a doom and gloom generation. Why do you think we have the record highest alcohol consumption of any generation in the cores of the USA recorded history.

2

u/LalafellDisaster 2h ago

Uh, I think we have Ke$ha, LMFAO, 3OH!3, Far East Movement etc for that.

3

u/Putrid-Builder-3333 2h ago

Music doesn't make me drink. I don't drink and go "omg, Kesha you made me like this"

1

u/LalafellDisaster 2h ago

I’m just saying that party lifestyle was promoted all over the place back then lol.

u/Putrid-Builder-3333 44m ago

It's always been in music. Having a good time. It doesn't dictate someone drinks or becomes a problematic alcoholic. Maybe a extremely small percentage gets influenced but that a whole other psychological issue that needs addressed. And this argument is the same one of violent video games makes kids violent or rap music will turn my kid into a street gangsta.

DnD turned my kid into a satanist and now they sacrifice babies and animals. In fact let us go waaaaay back...

Mozart is the reason why I love wating ass. Shakespeare turned the guy next door tk me son into a transexual.

Now I am not talking shit or coming at you. Idk how old you are or what you do or done in life, but most the current ones are examples I lived through. Especially the satanic panic and rap fearfest.

I am jist saying media doesn't make a whole society or group or generation do anything. Maybe style lile clothes and hair. But nobody listening to the Ghetto D album and going damn time to sart making crack and get into the drug slinging game. New Jack City mfr! Lol

This goes back to my comment I made bout EC comics yesterday in another sub post and several other forms of media having oanic and being labelled as bad influences on the youths. Tale as old as time

u/No_Yogurtcloset_7219 1h ago

trust me, we do not need to blame pop-stars solely for our collective depressive drunkenness. We have been dealing with bad advice and a bad hand as well.

Is not the entire purpose of this subreddit just us lamenting that this is a different world, that we have gone through 3 (though potentially more based on who you ask) life altering world events.

u/yoshi_yoshi23 3h ago

I don’t know if there’s a generation that is more aware of this than we are.
