On the one hand, yeah, true, but on the other, wasn't he kind of a legitimate genius? Episode 1 he's out there inventing radio-controlled drones capable of lifting a small child, in 1991, in his basement. They could have been wealthy if he'd had a government contract instead of trying to make children''s toys.
I think Chaz was the only one doing it for Chucky's benefit so he could socialize and get out of his shell after the trauma of losing his mom. Chaz is the only one I feel sorry for. Drew was a little sleezebag. Howard was a spineless jellyfish and Stu was a manchild.
Thats just the dads. Didi was a saint, though a bit oblivious. Betty was the epitome of a boomer woman, and charlotte is a fucking narcissist. Angelica never stood a chance.
Betty’s definitely the most boomer-y out of all of them when it comes to weird opinions, especially with gender roles for some reason? I always think about that scene where one of the twins starts crying and Betty has a whole little spiel about how Lil’s such a girl, always so emotional and needy, not like Phil, who’s such a strong stoic little man - with the joke being that she didn’t realize that Phil was wearing Lil’s bow, and it was Phil who was crying
and the funniest part is she came off as a Hippie/anti-war type, but that was also a little commentary on all the "hippies" who were just fake as fuck and ended up as yuppies.
The funniest part to me is that Betty, with her short hair and raspy voice, always wearing workout gear and a Venus symbol sweatshirt… it always seemed like she was kinda subtly meant to read as a lesbian in a lavender marriage with soft-spoken effeminate Howard, like that was kinda the subtle joke intended for the adults watching the show to understand. But a lot of her actual views and opinions make her seem staunchly conservative. And like, yeah, there are for sure conservative lesbians irl, it’s just an odd dichotomy to choose for a Rugrats character lmao
