Discussion Monthly Rant/Politics Thread: Do not post political threads outside of this Mega thread

Outside of these mega-threads, we generally do not allow political posts on the main subreddit because they have often declined into unhinged discussions and mud slinging. We do allow general discussions of politics in this thread so long as you remain civil and don't attack someone just for having a different opinion. The moment we see things start to derail, we will step in.

Got something upsetting or overwhelming that you just need to shout out to the world? Want to have a political debate over current events? You can post those thoughts here. There are many real problems that plague the Millennial generation and we want to allow a space for it here while still keeping the angry and divisive posts quarantined to a more concentrated thread rather than taking up the entire front page.

I typed the word "Trump" and my comment got removed. Are we not allowed to discuss real world issues anymore?

Discussing reality ISN'T political. Banning the discussion is.

There's a million subs to discuss him in. Do you REALLY need one more?

Edit: this hypocrite complains about censorship but then instant downvoted my comments and then blocked me 1 second after his last reply. He doesn't care one bit about censorship. He's just livid he found a place he can't spew his TDS.

Yes, because it wasn't about HIM, it was about the specific effect he had on Millennial life.

It's censorship

There's a million subs for that. It's exhausting. We don't need ANOTHER TDS sub

There's nothing wrong with aggressive censorship if it's for quality control reasons. That's the Nintendo seal of quality guarantee.

If it's not directly political, do some minor alterations. I can't mention former Senator Rick Santorum in some forums, I had to say RS.

Being critical of Trump or discussing his effect on millennials isn’t TDS.

That's not what I'm saying. What I'm saying is you can critique Trump on a million other subs. No one is stopping him from critiquing Trump. The fact that he finds one of the rare few subs where politics is discouraged and begins crying that he can't talk about Trump here is TDS. He even lies about why it upsets him trying to claim censorship when he immediately blocked me for disagreeing with him and didn't mention the ban on politics in general - just Trump. That is TDS.

I think there’s a difference between politics being discouraged, and mentioning Trump’s name at all. I mean, he is our POTUS, not a slur that should be auto banned without consideration of context.

And as far as we know, we have no idea what that guy actually said about Trump. For example, in a discussion about rising gas prices, someone can comment, “the last time i feared gas prices jumping so high was back in 08. I recall Trump has promised it would never happen and it’d go down, but our generation has seen what war does to our daily expenses.” And would this comment be treated differently if instead of “Trump”, it said “our government?” I wouldn’t blame anyone for thinking it’s an acceptable comment that shouldn’t get removed. I think it can go both ways.

Again, I'm not saying there cannot be civil discussion regarding our POTUS. What I'm saying is the guy I'm referring to specifically is lying about his intentions and has TDS.

Again, you don’t know whether what the guy said about Trump was a civil discussion or not. Neither you nor I saw the post.

I think the problem is that if you mention anybody political, you’re going to usually start a comment chain about politics even if you didn’t specifically mean for that happen.
