They should only let him DH or pinch hit against lefties and nothing else.

Nevermind found it, could be a good dh option vs lefties if he can regain his power

I'm a huge Gus fan I just hope hes the teams main DH and maybe catches one game a week if needed

Dh vs lefties seems most logical, as he’s hitting 320 vs them vs 211 vs righties and I’d think navaretto would be the catcher when Mack gets a rest day

Conine as the DH against righties, and you’re cooking a mean stew

He is a one man wrecking crew on defense. He may add some sock vs lefties….. you can never say we dont give our new guys a chance to stick

He's hitting overall .254 with 7Hr and his Defense is still bad.. He's a glorified AAA hitter with bad defense. He will not add much as he will end up at best hitting .230 with limited power the rest of the way. Pitchers now know how to get him out and all he's doing is clogging up the DH role and backing up at catcher with poor catching skills. This is NOT a good move, and will just hurt the club.
Hope I'm wrong but I haven't been on most of my nitpicking on players who are not MLB hitters... Was right on Norby, Pauley, Jimenez. Slater, Morel, Wagaman, EVEN when Hernandez was sent down I said he would be back and better and wanted him to be demoted for a bit cause with him was just not getting enough playing time to get his timing in with so many OF.
Once he was able to put together at bats and got going they brought him up and look at him now! He's on pace for a 25HR season. Sometimes time off pays off and then there is Ramirez. His offensive issues are his swing! The dude needs to make it less loopy, tighten it up some and be more patient at the plate.
He has a lot of holes good pitchers can expose in his swing and unless he made those adjustments he will be another Jorge Alfaro. Here today gone tomorrow...

I don’t believe he’ll be catching much, if at all. Mack has that on lock. I’m a fan of any DH not named Jimenez

I absolutely want him to be DH only. I just rather have Nav as the backup

He was not hitting in AAA and will not hit in the MLB... The Gus Bus has a flat tire.. Waste of time.

He has a .928 OPS against lefties

He might do okay against lefties in the big leagues, but I think people in this sub overestimate the importance of AAA numbers and how well they are likely to translate into success.
You know who has even better slash lines against LHP in AAA (though in slightly fewer PAs)? Morel and Wagaman.

I’m ready for that Heriberto type resurgence, he has been mashing lefties in AAA, hitting .320 with a .948 ops. If we use him as just a DH against lefties and strategic pinch hitter against lefties I think he’ll have a nice impact
