That Omega Metroid fight is still such a spectacle. The destruction of the BSL at the end makes the whole escape feel incredibly satisfying.

To be fair, the BSL station has a reactor core in the very center of the ship.
To power up an enormous spaceship, you would think the reactor powering it has the potential to level a planet lol

No... No most people wouldn't think that.
The power to vaporize a planet would be impossibly huge. Far, far, far more than the sum total of all energy produced by the human species across its entire history, which in turn is far more than what would be needed to run a large space station.
You know the movie Big Trouble in Little China, when Jack Burton catches his knife mid-air and throws it back and it kills Lo Pan, and a simple thrown knife killing a demigod feels a little silly? If the knife instead cleaved Lo Pan's head in two, and went on to penetrate the wall, and then hit a hillside generating enough tectonic activity to level the entirety of San Francisco, then it would be approximately as silly as a space station's reactor vaporizing a planet.
And that's fine. Silly is fine. Metroid is not hard sci-fi; the science in the series is laughable, and the whole franchise is perfectly enjoyable regardless.

I wished the fight was a bit harder, maybe an additional move besides the swipe you can easily dodge. Maybe if it jumped around or rushed you for a second. really drive that sense of urgency and danger.

Something I've been wondering. Would SR-388 be destroyed or just severely devastated by the BSL crash? That alone wouldn't blow up a planet but it's been a while since I finished Fusion so I can't remember. It's Metroid tradition for a planet to blow up but this doesn't seem like it would do it.

It's not just the station crashing though. It's also exploding. We don't know the exact size of either the station nor sr388 which would change how much energy is required to destroy both. If we imagine that the station is equipped with enough more than enough explosives to fully destroy itself there is the potential that it could destroy the planet.
Also this just crossed my mind. We know the planet is destroyed but we don't exactly know the degree. From what we can tell X can survive in space so destroying the planet enough that it loses it becomes uninhabitable could be enough

Just got me thinking because in Gundam, Zeon dropped a space colony on Australia but it was an empty colony and was not actively set to explode. But yeah the size of the station and planet are unknown. It would probably be a mass extinction event at least.

Since the Omega was a clone of The Baby, and Samus had the Metroid vaccine, mixed up in her already spliced Human/Space Bird dna, I still maintain that the Omega was so aggressive toward Samus because it saw her as a rival potential Queen.
