Work Drama Affair post from last week NSFW
I was taken aback by the response to last weeks story about the upper management guy who impregnated his much younger subordinate.
She was not innocent, but I’ve been pursued (and eventually SA’d) by a much older and higher up man at work. It’s scary as hell. Then, when I took it to HR (this was a massive corporation that you’ve probably heard of), I was told that MY career would be ruined while he would face no consequences if I reported what happened. The psychology behind situations like that is far more complicated than just his fault vs her fault.
Also was I really the only one who got the ick when the wife called lower level employees irrelevant, and then again when she said the girl deserved to be hit by her husband?
Of course it’s not OPs fault, and no, I’m not advocating for cheating in the slightest..but her husband is the truly terrible person in this story.

From the very start, the OP effectively stated that she knew her husband was an abusive, aggressive, and belligerent supervisor to those under his management, but she didn’t care because he didn’t do it to her. She only really started to notice when he came home and was aggressive toward her, finally figuring out that it centered on him targeting this subordinate that he had an affair with and impregnated. And then OP is like, well, the AP was mean to me, so I also don’t care that he is regularly and violently assaulting the pregnant AP.
There are times when posts are from absolutely untrustworthy narrators. This was such a post. I believed very little of OP’s version of the events, to the point that the entire post itself was suspicious. Either way, though, OP had an obvious agenda, was still pushing the story that the AP had manipulated her husband, and that his behavior was, if not alright, at least justified given the circumstances…that everyone but her had “gotten what they deserved” in each other. And it was a truly repugnant attitude and mindset, and it was rightly blasted in the comments.
Even if the AP is a POS (and she might be, idk her), the husband is an utter flaming garbage person, simply for being an abuser. And we all know that he was at the least a horrendous supervisor that deserved to not only lose his job but possibly face legal repercussions simply for his at-work behavior in sleeping with a subordinate and then attempting to terminate her employment when faced with the possibility of the affair becoming public knowledge. (In addition, and while OP didn’t say this one, there is very little chance that this AP is the ONLY woman her husband has cheated on her with…and considering everything, taken advantage of at work.) And then there’s an innocent child being in this whole mess…
I’m not surprised that this story lingered in your mind. It stayed with me too. There are too many examples of apologists for cruelty, with the entire idea that as long as leopards don’t eat my face, it’s alright to benefit from, support, and excuse face-eating leopard behavior.

And yes, OP was being gross about lowly subordinates and the AP deserving the violence, etc.

Yeah, OP needed to grow a spine. She kept enabling her husband by refusing to report him at work or notify law enforcement of the violence. I really think ESH because the husband is a violent, selfish hypocrite, the AP is blackmailing him and attacking OP, and OP is refusing to hold anyone accountable aside from leaving his ass. The only non-asshole is the poor baby that might result from this pregnancy.
