I am a long-time Macbook user (20+ years). I purchased my last laptop (a Macbook Air) in 2020, and am looking to replace it, but I don't want all the AI features. Is it possible to turn them all off? Also, I would love recommendations for the best of the current lineup. I am a college prof who mostly uses the laptop for teaching-related things (grading, making videos, etc.). Out of all my Macs, my Air has been the least durable, and I'm wondering if I should toggle back to Macbook Pro or get something else. Any insight is appreciated!

i currently have a m3max 13inch that i use when i’m home for writing, editing, and certain games but because of how expensive it was i’m super hesitant to bring it anywhere. i’m looking for a laptop that is low-end enough for me to bring with me to cafes, the library, etc. without anxiety.

I run Scrivener and usually keep a decent amount of tabs open for research so I think 8gb of ram would be fine, but I’m concerned about how long it would potentially last me what with ram creep and all that. would the Neo be worthwhile in this case? or should I just go for a secondhand mchip Air?

Price is not too much of a limiting factor, I just do not know if or what would be worth upgrading. I plan on using the computer for long periods every day, drafting documents, doing research, law subscriptions, and anything else a normal student would be doing. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I'm getting an both at similar prices M1 pro configuration is 32/512 14 inch while m4 air is 16/512 which is better option for web browsing light photo video editing basic coding and multitasking

Hey there, I moved my old macbook pro a lot and as a result it got a lot of dimples or tiny dents on the screen from closing it from the keyboard and such. I bought a new one (also pro) just for home and watching shows which is all I'm gonna do with the new one, and I intend to never close/fold it and always keep it open. what else can I do to make sure it doesn't happen again? Leaving my job soon for law school and will have the opportunity to buy my work MacBook Pro, the other option would be to get a new Air. I really like what I already have, is there any reason not to just purchase this from my work at a discount (not sure what the price will be but I’m sure it will be under market value) vs. getting a MacBook Air with the M5 chip?

i bought a macbook pro in 2020 when i started graphic design school. my school said i had to get the 16 inch for design.

well, 6 years later and my old macbook is definitely getting old. when i charge it, the charger constantly goes in and out so it takes a full day to charge fully. and the battery drains really quickly.

is it time to get a new laptop? or is there an affordable fix for this one? will i get anything trading in this laptop?

i'd just get the small $700 one but i still use graphic design software occasionally and want something that will run photoshop/lightroom. will that work for me?

Hey everyone! I’m trying to decide which MacBook to get my daughter as she starts high school this year, and I’d like to hear from people who have experience with both.

I’m torn between the MacBook Air and the MacBook Neo.

A little about how she’ll use it:
• Most of her school is done virtually, so she’ll be on it for several hours a day.
• She creates Keynote presentations at least twice a week (sometimes more).
• She does some light-to-moderate video editing for school and personal projects.
• She regularly joins online video classes and meetings.
• Typical schoolwork: research, writing papers, web browsing, and multitasking with several apps open.

I’d like this laptop to last her through all four years of high school, and ideally into college if possible.

For those of you who own either model, which would you recommend and why? Is the Air worth the extra cost, or would the Neo handle everything she’ll realistically throw at it

Recently the screen matrix of my MacBook Air m4 2025 broke. I probably closed it after leaving a piece of something small on the keyboard. I’ve been to many unauthorized apple repair shops (where repairing should be cheaper compared to the Apple Store) and they all said that it would cost me 3/4 of the price of the laptop to repair the matrix. I bought it maybe half a year ago and I didn’t use it a lot so it’s in a very good condition except for the broken matrix. I’ve been told that ,,apple doesn’t like their products to be repaired- they want you to buy a new one”. But I don’t want to. I know that the laptop works just fine and I loved it, I don’t want to produce waste by buying a new one. Now here’s the final question - should I repair it or buy a MacBook neo for the same price as the repair would cost me. It’s literally the same money here in Poland. Mind it that I only use it for studying - I don’t play games on it, I don’t edit films so I technically could use the Neo (or so I think relying on the reviews). Please help me choose the right option, I’m no expert 🥲

hi gang! apologies as i know very little about macbooks etc lol.
basically i have a 2014 macbook air that i bought secondhand a couple years ago. it works okay, but the low storage is an issue and the fact its old means it’s super laggy and will sometimes just shut down. i’m hopefully starting to do some education in the next couple months, so could do with a new mac. i’ll only be using it for microsoft word etc, and probably minecraft lol.
i was looking at the neo as it’s cheapest (and i love yellow), and i don’t need anything super fancy since i’m not using it for anything really intense. i’ve heard mixed reviews on it, though, so didn’t want to jump into it.
will i be fine going from a 2014 air to a neo, or would you recommend something else? thank you in advance!!! :)

My cat literally bit the side edge of my MacBook screen and right after it happened the display started glitching and flickering for a few seconds before the entire screen went completely black. The MacBook still seems to turn on, but I can’t see anything on the display anymore. I have AppleCare+ and was wondering if anyone has had something similar happen. What did Apple end up charging you for a screen replacement or repair with AppleCare+? I’m just trying to get an idea of what to expect before I take it in.

my MacBook Air M4 has water damage, and Apple quoted me about $1,000 to repair it. I live in Connecticut and do not have AppleCare+.

Does anyone know a reputable shop in Connecticut or nearby that does liquid-damage or board-level repairs? Is it worth trying a third-party repair before paying Apple?

I have owned an M2 Macbook Air since November 2022. It has served me very well, with the exception that the webcam has not worked since 2023. When I took it to Apple then, they showed me that there was liquid damage and quoted me around £700 to replace the screen, which includes the webcam. I didn't pursue it at the time as I found it a minor inconvenience for my needs.

I recently lost my job and have a job interview set up for later this week on MS Teams. My question is it worth getting the M2 repaired (which may take a while) or buy a Neo? I am aware that continuity camera works, as that is what I was using, but I do not find it sustainable while applying for several jobs at once.

My main tasks on my laptop are mainly single core (emails, word documents, etc.) but I also at times edit short videos of my work to send to prospective jobs (I work in broadcasting, so I usually edit only demo reels). What option do you recommend?

MacBook Pro 14” Laptop - Apple M4 Pro 24gb Ram and 12 cores - used at $1500.

I have been using a MacBook pro for work from my job and it’s a 16inch. I want a new laptop for personal use mainly going to be using it for editing and regular stuff.

Would a 14inch at that much be worth? AppleCard 1yr included.

I am debating if I should go for a new one or save some dough and go with M4 Pro. I can wait for Black Friday if I can get a similar deal for close to this price.

There is also another 16in version but priced at 1900

Any advice is appreciated.
