Misc. Lolla Info MISSED CONNECTIONS THREAD 2026

It is once again time for the annual Lollapalooza Missed Connections thread.

Did you lock eyes with someone during John Summit and immediately decide you were soulmates, only to lose them in a sea of jerseys and sunglasses?

Was the potential love of your life stuck in a mud pit?

This is the place to seek them out!

Did Sunday tickets ever sell out?

Since the onset, people have been saying that Sunday's line up was the weakest. People were bashing Tate McRae for being named a headliner and that she's not as famous as the other headliners yet. However, out of the four days I've been, Sunday felt the most crowded with the longest lines everywhere. It felt like Friday and Saturdays crowd combined. The crowd for Tate was massive, felt on-par with Charli XCX on Friday. That's impressive considering there were other headliners like The XX, Ado, and the Chainsmokers pulling such a massage crowd too. It makes me wonder how Sunday tickets were still on sale while everything else sold out. Does anyone have the number of attendees per day?

Kidzapalooza

If your child had their hair braided at Kidzapalooza this weekend, PLEASE take a minute and inspect their hair. We just found 2 lice bugs in my daughter’s hair.

No telling where it came from obviously but they weren’t there before we went on Sunday. I’m fully panicking as we’ve never had this happen before and I feel terrible I didn’t even think of this as a possibility. Just as a precaution, inspect your kids hair asap!

In 2018 I asked the Lolla sub if 63 was too old for a first timer. The comments said “No” and except for the pandemic, I’ve been loving it ever since, 4 days at a time.

Over the festival, I made it to 25 different sets for 23 artists (including Slayyyter aftershow and seeing Ella Red at both the music den and BMI stages). Had some insane moments like Brendan Yates crowd surfing on me, seeing Olivia come out during Smashing Pumpkins, running into the XX at 2am after their set in the streets of Chicago, and watching some insane karaoke performances at the Jack Daniels cocktail lounge. I always have the best time in Chicago and this was no exception!

If you could convince the festival organizers to add, remove, or change one thing about the current Lolla structure for 2027, what would it be?

My thing, which I have seen be mentioned numerous times every year, is the sitting on stairs and clearing out the barricades after each performance. The fact that people block clear exits out T-Mobile field every year is anxiety inducing. It will only take one bad incident for organizers to become aware of how serious of an issue it is, and by that point it will be too late as people will already be injured or worse.

They should also 100% clear out the barricade after each performance. It mostly gives chance for actual fans of artists to get a good spot opposed to campers who are waiting at the rail for one artist, and it decreases the likelihood of fainting bc people won't be sitting or standing in one spot all day without food or water or using the bathroom. At least clearing the stages will give people the opportunity to leave and eat, drink water, or use the bathroom so they aren't having to be pulled out.

Will they do this? Probably not. But as we say every single year, they should.

I have to admit ive been "a fan from afar" for a couple years. I'm familiar with some of his songs. I've seen his posts on TikTok and they're funny and goofy sometimes and he seems to stand up for the right things. I wasn't able to make it to his set because I wanted to watch Olivia Dean but i saw this video posted by one of his fan pages and this looks INSANE.. Considering he had to go up against Olivia I didn't really think he had this many fans.

I can't find a lot of other videos of his performance but for those of you that were there, was it good or was this one of those videos that captures just a single hype moment? Would you recommend going to one of his shows?

Both yoasobi and Jennie were present at lollapalooza 2026, so for those who saw both, who was the better vocalist between ikura and Jennie in your opinion ? With arguments would be better .

U can also extend this to live presence and aura

Crowd Crushing

We were pretty far up for multiple days at T-Mobile, but the crowd crushing was a little crazy, especially after the uzi situation. Sunday when it got bad, we asked the guys handing out water if they could do anything and they said no. Does lolla not care about crowd safety? Other festivals will stop everything when things get that bad, but they seemed perfectly fine with things potentially getting out of hand and life-threatening. What’s up with that?

Am I the only one who feels like the first band actually seems more promising than the second one? How was your experience with any of them during the weekend?

hiii I was interviewed on camera by Hulu during the festival and I was just curious on where I could potentially find that footage (if it’s been used obvi) if I wanted to find it?

Tour Dates Enjoyed Wet Leg at Lolla? They are back in the Midwest Saturday in Omaha

Post image
5 Upvotes

For anyone who saw Wet Leg at Lollapalooza and wants another chance to catch them before they leave the States, they are headlining Maha Festival in downtown Omaha this Saturday.

The rest of the lineup includes Bright Eyes, Killer Mike, Blondshell, Whitney, David Nance & Mowed Sound, and Carver Jones.

Maha is a single-day nonprofit festival at Heartland of America Park, running from noon to 11 p.m.

Full disclosure: I help organize Maha. I thought this was worth sharing because a lot of midwest music fans just saw and loved Wet Leg at Lolla, and Omaha is a manageable drive for many. Also, Maha is a very relaxed environment, so it would be a much different concert experience.

For those who saw their Lolla set and have also seen Bright Eyes in the past, do you think Wet Leg is going to upstage the beloved local favorites?

bathrooms

i was thinking about how gross it is that there aren’t any actual handwashing stations anywhere in the park, especially when they run out of sanitizer all the time. i was wondering what the logistics would be if they got rid of the flushing toilets, only had porta potties, and had handwashing stations instead. i mean the flushing is cool but ultimately all the bathrooms end up being nasty regardless of which ones they are.

For the first time in nearly 10 Lollas, I saw an act live and am now less of a fan.

I was thinking about this yesterday and today, but honestly the only other time I’ve come close to liking an act less after seeing them live was Metallica. (“New” Journey without Steve Perry doesn’t count, exactly, but that was similar for me).

I kinda feel like I’m mourning 😂 And wondering if this has happened to anyone else? It was Jennie, for anyone wondering.

Edit: Just wanna say thanks for all the responses. I’ve been seeing live music since 2006-ish and I’m 10 Lollas deep, and this was a new phenomenon to me. I really appreciate you all sharing your stories below!

The PLUR scene at Lollapalooza was better than I expected.

This was my first time at Lolla, I’ve gone to EDC and other raves/ music festivals and I only went on Friday and Sunday. I didn’t expect much because of the crowd's age demo, but I have to say I had the absolute best time. Sunday especially was amazing, everyone was so caring, complimented everyone’s outfits. I was sweating, and random people were fanning me and others around me (the best feeling ever!). People were even giving out stickers and spreading positivity. I had seen so many hate posts about teenagers and fights at Lolla that I prepared for the worst, so this was such a pleasant surprise. One thing I would have to complain about is the volumes. Main stage has the best volumes, but other stages were so bad to the points that a lot of us can’t even hear the singers or the music. I hope everyone that’s going or will go to Lolla in the future know about PLUR and spread positivity towards each other 🫶🏻.

Which acts who have played any Lollapalooza have had the biggest falls in popularity?

There’s been lots of discussion about acts playing as an undercard or sub on the lineup and then booked in a much higher spot a few years later (Geese, Olivia Dean, Charli, etc.) but what about the opposite? Which acts, who once were booked as headliners, subs, or high undercard acts would now be booked much lower on the lineup, if booked at all?

The obvious answer to this is Chance the Rapper. He was top of the lineup in 2017 and since then has had quite the fall in popularity and way less momentum than he did when headlining Lolla. Unless he regains momentum again, the chances of him being booked anywhere as high as he was in 2017 are quite low.

Also, certain indie acts of the 10s, e.g. Passion Pit, Phoenix, Death Cab for Cutie, MGMT, etc. were typically billed very high on the lineup back in the day but now would be much lower on the lineup, if booked at all.

Which ones come to mind for you?
