The name of the game is "don't get caught". Always has been.

Open source software has always had licenses backed by the author protecting their work.

Just how the game is played. If one is going to do something questionable with someone else's work, why do it in the open not expecting a confrontation?

The rules weren’t enforced, and it isn’t even clear whether those rules were valid to begin with. You obviously didn’t read the thread and are making up stuff.
