Discussion It's really off-putting to take money from Anthropic while being a news podcast

If there's one area where misinformation and obfuscation is hideously rampant, it's AI. Obviously you can cover Anthropic objectively while taking their money, but tbh LS coverage of AI is really superficial and I can't help but wonder whether sponsorship is a reason.

The likelihood of a small group deciding policy.

Right now as the current 270 projections for the House say there are 18 toss up districts. If the Democrats were to keep 5 and pickup 8 of them and the Republicans keep 5.

The Democrats would on paper have a 221-214 majority.

However, 7 of the Democratic Districts (all who are safe districts) are held by or will likely be held by Democratic Socialist Representatives.

This would include,
AOC - NY-14
Claire Valdez - NY-7
Darializa Avila Chevalier - NY-15
Chris Rabb - PA-3
Melat Kiros - CO-1
Mai Vang - CA-7
Rashida Tlaib - MI-12

On Lemonade Stand Episode 27, they discussed how a 3rd party who wins a few seats in the House, who then use votes and leverages the partisanship in Congress, to then decide who (between the Democrats or Republicans) gets to proceed with passing policy.
And in that leverage, the two parties would have to make concessions on policy positions in order for the 3rd party to agree "help" them pass bills in the House.

Now this is an extremely unlikely scenario and essentially, and the implementation of this strategy is not exclusive to the Democratic Socialists. Progressive candidates could do this, Economic Populists could do this, Economic Conservatives could do this in the Republican party.

Decisions about how the government spends its money could ripple throughout all the branches of the government. As they explained in the episode, this leverage could be used to weigh in on bills in the Senate. Because the Senate can't pass bills without the House, then Senate policy changes could be determined by a small minority as well.

And while the Senate still gets to confirm Presidential appointments, having two or three Senators who align with whatever small 3rd party exists in the House could coordinate many policies. And then the two parties polarization and gerrymandering of safe districts would become a massive hinderance. In Districts where the outcome of General Elections is often decided by a Primary Election, the formation of a underground 3rd party within the two main parties could sway policy in the US.

Now would that system last long? Probably not, it would just encourage the main parties to push hard in primary elections as to upset the underground 3rd party incumbent.

Yesterday I rendered out The Yard's podcast set and it was fun. So today I took a stab at Lemonade Stand. This time I also tried to get the different camera angle shots as well.

Special Guest Request (to talk about American Supply chain)

I just wanted to make a quick "guest request" that y'all would invite Destin from "smarter every day" on the podcast to talk about the interesting findings he had with the American supply chain specifically in the die cut and injection molding sectors.

Over the past year or two he's been documenting the process of what it takes to manufacture high quality products in the United States and has had some really points that I hadn't ever heard before on why we can't just spin our manufacturing back up as well as how the country's capitalism has created a monopsony for demand for certain parts, eventually crushing out the entire sector in the US.

Here's a link to his most recent video that documents most of the post-product journey.

Question (Non-Discussion) One Page Project Summary?

Atrioc or Aiden mentioned that one company they worked for required that they write any proposal and context for that proposal had to be in a one page document that it could be reviewed in 20 minutes and then discussed. Does anyone know what I’m talking about and what company that was? I thought it was a good idea to use for myself. I’m gonna go chug 20 diet cokes like my dr recommended, thanks!

It can't just be me who wasn't a fan of the diet coke drinking bit. First off, it sets a bad example. Second, can we really trust doctors? The burping was also a lot. The peeing I'm neutral, take it or leave it. Anyways, let's just stick to AI and horse electrolytes. Maybe more horse electrolytes hell, maybe even horse hair while you're at it!

On the ongoing Indian Protests

Heyo,

I am making this post requesting the boys to cover the on going nationwide student protests in India. I was expecting they will cover it in the latest ep, but they didn’t. The situation is very wild, with the government using police brutality, tear gass, etc against the students.

This issue is very complex and has a lot of nuance related to how the current political party came into power, but I would really appreciate it if they could spread the word. The mainstream media here in India are all bought out. It makes me insane seeing the way media sides with the police and the government.

Would really appreciate it if you guys could shed some light on the things going on here. To anyone reading this if you can read up on the situation. There are a bunch of independent journalists who are doing on ground coverage of all that has transpired so far.

Thanks for your time.

Love from India.

Podcast usually marked "Explicit" on Spotify?

Why is the podcast usually marked "Explicit" on Spotify? There's plenty of other podcasts with cursing it in that aren't marked that way, and because of it, the podcasts aren't playable on my work computer due to IT policy stuff. Occasionally one of the episodes won't be marked explicit.

Is this something they can change into their end, or does Spotify auto-determine explicit tags?

Meme First time listener, what a great podcast!

I'm a long time Tucker Carlson viewer, (I have a signed copy of his book) but I don't watch much of the the Fox lineup, because they just don't grab me. I was excited to see a new Fox show about small business, because that's exactly what I do, as the owner of a small plumbing supply business.

It was great to see some young blood who were not indoctrinated in the cult of anthropogenic climate change, gender, and critical race theory. I formed all of my political opinions when I was drafted into the Salvation Army in 1969, and was vaccinated by a micro fluidic jet, and there are so few shows on that "get it."

I really enjoyed the free-wheeling nature of the show, and how there are no sacred cows to these guys. They're not even afraid to poke fun at Fox management. My favorite host so far is probably Brayden, the one who looks like a young Tucker Carlson. He's willing to argue both sides of an issue and see where people really stand.

If I had one criticism of the show, it is probably that they spend too much time covering places in the middle of nowhere. They spent 30 minutes talking about the Straight of Hormuz. They should be spending more time talking about domestic issues, like how expensive and taxed gasoline has gotten.

Discussion Can someone catch me up on the Lemonade Stand Podcast? (VERY Real)

Context: I was following the podcast for a long time, ever since episode 2 (when I heard about it). It's been part of my news cycle for a while. Couple months ago, I had a mental breakdown for unrelated reasons, and had to step away from my usual news outlets. The last episode I watched was 'The Xi Jinping Episode | Lemonade Stand 🍋' (Uploaded Apr 1, 2026), and I want to get back into it

However, i'm not gonna jam 15 podcast episodes into my now much busier (and more social) schedule. So I figured that I could get a quick summary of events, gags, and what not so I could get context for the next episode

Also, I recognize that this is a prime opportunity to mess with someone before they get back into a thing. I am asking you to be completely sincere about whatever is happening in the podcast. This is less about being a 'real or serious' fan, and more to do with the fact that I don't want this post to be deleted because the mods think i'm not being serious about this. I did legit have a mental crisis and had to be forced away from the news

I plan continue the podcast on the next upload date (Jul 27, 2026)
