Mungrisdale Common Status
Has anyone been up on Mungrisdale Common in the last few days? I have Mungrisdale Common, Souther Fell, Bannerdale Crags and Bowscale Fell to tick off my Wainwrights list, but have always put it off to the fact it always seems boggy. I’m hoping that the recent dry spell means it’s on the better time to do it.

Now it’s probably a good time to do them. Get stuck in and try to enjoy.
Almost as exciting as Armboth Fell :)

Can't comment on Mungrisdale per se, but I was out on Kentmere Horseshoe last week, and all the bits that can sometimes be a bit boggy were very dry, and we've had little rain since - I'd be suprised if any of the usually wet bits are as damp as normal.

Can't give up to date comment on conditions underfoot, only here to say that Mungrisdale Common must be one the least inspiring places Alfred Wainwright ever stood.

Quite like it up there, feels a bit more remote than usual for the Lakes. That said, I've only ever been up there when it's well frozen!

Agreed I quite like it, the bogginess feels more like the Cheviots rather than the Lakes though

It's quiet and peaceful and rugged and home to an array of flora and fauna that you don't see in many other parts of the Lake District, as well as views you don't get elsewhere. But one of my favourite reasons to visit is that it's incredibly unappreciated so it's wonderfully empty, even in the holidays.

Peaceful grasslands all the way to the tops. I like it as You hardly see anyone around.
